Throwback Thursday - 1972 ORD-PHX 747 UD

1972 - An AA flight ORD-PHX.
I remember my dad playing piano in the bar and hanging out in the lounge.

I don't miss the cigarette smoke (first photo)---how did we ever allow it on a plane?

Or the bad hair, including my own in those days.

I was, in fact, referring to the FAs' (plural) hair also. It was the decade of bad taste!

HA! I will not post more pics of my wardrobe from that trip. I was well into my road warrior days before smoking was banned on planes - I remember it well.

One other note - see the cards sticking up on the seats. In FC, we had our names on the cards so the FAs (or anyone else) could address you by name.

I had a shirt just like that one back in the day. Too bad that's not flying anymore. True we have technology now to ease the trip but I could go for the treatment given back in the day.

It is amazing that no one's lighter (when lighting up for a smoke) ever ignited the hairspray of a stewardess.

Perhaps, but it didn't come cheap.

I was wondering about - dad was traveling on business and this was before FF programs. We were middle class and could not afford a FC ticket like that - hmm.
Any guesses in today dollars?

The thing I find fascinating is that there's a front wall on the plane. What's the story behind that? Is this an upper deck, or did the pilots have their own entrances?
