Im hearing wide body cross fleeting will begin in May.

ORD-DUB will be operated by a LUS 332
PHL-ZRH will be operated by a LAA 763

More to come apparently

This one is not a surprise...the seasonal PHL-ZRH on the LUS A332 (upgauged from the LUS 762 previously once the 762s were retired) did pretty badly last summer. Assume the crew will be doing a 6 day JFK-ZRH-PHL-ZRH-JFK rotation...

Yes, all signs point to yes on that.

Any idea of a timeline on this? Might have a HKG trip late-ish this year and this flight would come in handy!

I'm thinking quite soon.

These changes have been loaded into the reservation system.

Do you know if they plan on having pmUS and pmAA crew bases at those respective stations? Because that was a problem when CO/UA started doing intl cross-fleeting. If there is a crew issue at ORD, that 332 flight will get cancelled; as there will be no one on call. Same thing at PHL with that 763 flight. And even if they have a 333/332 "hot spare" at PHL as a substitute, they would need a whole new crew to fly it.

I hope AA looks hard at how UA screwed up cross fleeting, and makes sure they don't make the same mistakes.

I think this is why they've been very slow to cross fleeting. Flight ops is supposed to merge in September, so doing this swap of aircraft won't be too harsh in case of IRROPS.

Dang. I just checked my PHL-ZRH flight in May and it's a 763. I purposely routed thru PHL (vs. JFK) to get the A332. This is a paid J ticket and I feel a bit ripped off. I've honestly not flown the refurbished 763 (have flown the A332) but from what I've seen and read the A332 is a nicer seat.

I wonder if I have recourse to change my flights...

A change of aircraft will usually get you a reasonable change if you call in and ask. Just know which flight(s) you want instead.

Unfortunately, according to AA.com, the only way to get to ZRH is via PHL or JFK and now both use the 763.

We (LUS) will staff the ORD-DUB flights and LAA PHL-ZRH.

I assume you mean cabin crew? Can LUS flight crew fly 763s? Are there any PHL-based pilots who can operate a 763?

PMUS had FAs and pilots had been working the 762 before its retirement. However, possibly some additional training would be needed for the 763.

Well, that's a different problem. If the fares are still in the right place on other carriers, see if AA will let you refund. It's a pretty significant change in the in flight product, so you can probably do it - even if it takes a couple of calls.

I just few LX ZRH-BOS in business and can't recommend it highly enough.
