Just made EXP / Executive Platinum! Resources, ask questions, brag (2017+)

First, a hearty welcome to Executive Platinum status!

New Executive Platinum members, whether "self-made", via your Concierge Key nomination or made by AA offers, including challenges, to similar status holders from competing airlines, often have questions about how the program works.

Feel free to post your questions here, but also be aware many of your questions about American Airlines, AAdvantage and Executive Platinum status can be answered in these resources:

That is a huge mileage stash. Wow. Heck, probably worth starting to burn through them vs. getting status.

FInally made it this week

Anyone have any experience or insight on this benefit?

Is this special inventory on most flights? Or is it uncommon? Is it for both T and U classes? If I want T class and don't see it, should I call the EP desk every time just to be safe? Not sure what the purpose of withholding it online is if I am logged in.

I’ve had it for one seat upon request, but that’s over perhaps fifteen years. It is very scarce, from reports.

Yeah, I know. If there was something tangible to be gained, I might have...but I am a little burned-out on air travel this year.

My thoughts exactly. Sadly, I believe profitability is a factor and I’m taking a WAG here but with that many miles most tickets were probably not high priced tickets. Plus I think that kind of activity needs to be sustained for a couple of years.

It is EQM.. not BIS miles. So 310k EQM is only 155k actual miles..

DFW-HKG (for example) is 8000 miles, so in paid J that would be 16000 EQM each way. If the OP did USA-SE Asia once a month in paid J, they could easily make the numbers posted above. And that would make them reasonably profitable IMO. (at least relative to me and my <500 USD TATL fares I like to take)
