I guess just because they enjoy it
I'm on that same flight two days later, and it looks much the same.
AA125 1/26: F2 A0 P1 J7 R7 D7 I7 Y7 B0 H7 K7 M7 L7 G7 V7 S7 N7 Q7 O7 E7
AA126 2/1: F5 A2 P5 J7 R7 D7 I7 Y7 B0 H7 K7 M7 L7 G7 V7 S7 N7 Q7 O7 E7
Seat maps show ~10-15 occupied out of 54 in J. But of course no C has been available. I wouldn't sweat though...these look like good odds for both of us, we just probably won't know until T-48. I set an alarm for that time (in addition to the EF notification) to make sure I check and call AA if C opens up.
Good luck...

My ord-phx today at 11.40 cleared this morning at 7 am. I'll give credit where credit is due and so far AA upgrades as an EXP are far more generous than UA's 1K--not even close.
It's all subjective to me and YMMV.
You want redeemable GPU's, plenty of award J space, but resigned to 5% CPU domestic upgrades? Fly United.
You want to be up front 95% of the time on domestic flights but lose the benies above? Fly American.
To each their own.

Oh yeah, 50ways, meant to chime in on your upgrade ordering question too. My understanding is that SWU and miles+copay are theoretically equivalent. That is, and EXP should get an upgrade before a gold member, regardless of which instrument they are each using. I'm quite far from authoritative on the subject though; if more knowledgeable people around here disagree I defer to them...

Flying DFW-LHR on Friday, 1/27 on AA50, return on Sunday, 2/5 on AA51. Just booked the trip yesterday and am waitlisted for both legs. EF shows C0 in both directions. MCE on the outbound is almost full, open on the return.
Any thought based on previous experiences? Haven't ever flown this route before.

If there are many D and I seats available for sale and the seatmap is wide open, you have a decent shot.

Can't seem to find a definitive answer but does anyone know if an EXP requesting an upgrade on a transcon with SWU will have more priority over those using complimentary upgrades? I'm aware that they pull from different buckets prior to being handed over to the airport upgrade list, but what about on day of departure?

Quick question, as I've never done either of these... looking to go DFW-BUD on 2/16 and need to catch the early BA 8am to BUD. Therefore, JFK and RDU TATL are my best options.
AA100 is currently 18/52 occupied in J on the 77W (34%) But MCE only has 3 seats left.
AA174 is currently 13/28 occupied in J on the 763. (46%) There are a few exit row seats I could select.
Obvious downside with the 763 is no IFE, wifi, etc.
Any thoughts on which would be a better bet with an SWU?
Thanks!

Slightly confused. I have a flight tonight from ORD to LGA and it's currently J7 and C3. I am EXP so I phoned earlier this morning and was told that they have around 10 seats available that they are holding to be cleared through by the system. At this point why the hell are they not releasing them?
