SF = San Francisco?

We're talking about a delayed departure from LAX, aren't we?

That is the one I am referring to.

Regarding an alternate flight on CX, at the Flagship Lounge at 7 am they said because I was in J because of an upgrade they wouldn't honor the seat. And Y was sold out, not that I would have taken a Y seat for a 15 hour flight anyway.
What a deal...

So what are the magic words to utter and to whom do those words need to be uttered?

There's a thread on TB with a few years of discussion/dissection (and, yes, failures and frustrations) :

https://travelingbetter.vbulletin.ne...reaccomodation

The very last post shows the current policy:
https://travelingbetter.vbulletin.ne...8233#post78233

Mileage Upgrades/Upgrade Awards & Systemwide Upgrades will be protected in the premium cabin on AA flights and oneworld member airlines (since the ticket has been reissued, "same cabin as ticketed" now refers to the premium cabin).
As I mentioned here (and you'll see plenty of in that thread) there are and will be challenges and hurdles getting this done in many cases. However, JBV partners are much easier as the -general- rules on schedule irregularity clarify. The key to the whole thing being above: "same cabin as ticketed" now refers to the premium cabin"

I wonder what compensation if any will be given. I wrote AA after each ridiculous event.

I hope those that are booked on AA 138 HKG DFW start making alternative arrangements. It's scheduled to depart at 20:15 HKT, according to the HKIA website. As of right now, the LAX flight isn't scheduled to arrive into HKG until 20:34.

AA138 on 9/22 shows on AA app as leaving at an estimated 6.50pm. Interestingly shows as using the 137 metal from DFW. Probably knock on effect of 9/21 LAX-HKG not leaving until ~3pm today. (some 13 hours late)

Weird that CX/JL wouldn't know the rebooking in business/J since it is a AA ticket after all and AA is paying for it.

Thanks for the correction/clarification. I suppose the operative word is "can" (as opposed to "will"). :-/

Leaving SFO was a fiasco. We boarded at 1100pm - they had a full crew....including language speakers.

I would have expected 6 or so fa's not 13. We pushed back and then waited at the end of the runway for release from dispatch. Paperwork error - had to go back to the gate. Plane in the only aa gate that could take the 777-300....they had to push it off (it was RON).

Took off around 2am...landed LAX and waited and waited to be towed into 41. Door opened around 300am. (AA apologiezd with 7k miles - seems like a joke for a 9 hour arrivals delay).

It seemed like a lot of unhappy people at the gate trying to get to HKG.

I can't prove it - but I suspect they took the 193 crew and flew them up to SFO for the flight to LAX - and then needed to give them crew rest. Can't prove it - but I don't know where they would have had 13 fa's hanging around.

When the ticket is reissued by AA to other airlines, that other airline can view the old ticket.
