HKG flights are the most difficult destination for non-rev among all Far East flights. If you want Business class or above for far east, you'd be crazy to take the HKG flights. Much better with other airports.

Not really, the incoming boarding pass is used to 'justify' eligibility in the case that the departure boarding pass doesn't appear to be. But for OP's scenario it would be a disqualification anyhow because AS is not part of oneworld and this is a oneworld departure lounge. Given that how the LAX QF F dragons love to pull the security and cop calling threat......

booked 193 this morning for 08/31/17 departure. SWU cleared at booking from Y to C, while EF showed F2 A1 J2 R1 D1 I0..., and entire C cabin map occupied
Does this suggest that AA is becoming less stingy with C inventory? Or I got lucky

You can access AA lounges with the incoming Intl F ticket because AA permits use of its own lounges post flight to its own premium cabin customers as long as you can get to the airside location of its lounges.

For example: For those who fly on 08/30/17, on EF you will find F3Z1J7U6C7

As mentioned by a previous poster, booking so close to departure and also I think there is light purchased tickets in biz due to the upcoming holiday. I booked LAX-HKG-DFW on Wednesday with 9-2 departing and 9-5 return and they did not clear at booking but cleared the next morning.

Anticipate there will be op-up's to F on 8/31 (so you will likely hit the lottery again as a CK -- although AA F is honestly just a really good business class). If you haven't chosen your seat, hold off on doing so, and things may work out well for you at the gate. (I'm not sure if it's possible to get "unseated" by calling AA).

You got lucky (or maybe it's pretty close to departure)
