Probability of getting TG'd DFW-HNL on daily non-stop?

Greetings, folks.

Flying J class from DFW-HNL on American metal AA123 outbound (9/1/16) and returning in J on AA8 (9/5/16). Both flights are the retro-fit 763s V2 w/ daily non-stop service in both directions, and SeatGuru confirm my current ticketed flights are on the retrofit lie-flat J seats, which I intentionally booked since my wife has not experienced this J product.:eek: We picked 2J and 2G based on the positive SeatGuru reviews.

Wondering if anyone knows the odds of / or has experience / being TG'd  on this route, and/or if anyone knows if AA operates any older 763 V1 configs on this route. Really hoping to not get stuck in the old angled lie-flat J product, although there is really nothing I can do at this point, I suppose. Thanks! ^

>>>Forgive me if this post is anywhere else, as I could not find one on this topic for this route.<<<

Unfortunately, it's almost a certainty that they'll swap in the old configuration.

TG'd? In the title as well as the body?

From the context you appear worried about an aircraft sub to an unreconfigured 767. Those subs will exist as long as there are unreconfigured 767s. The probability of one happening on a specific flight and date fully five weeks from now can't be estimated with any reliability.

Strictly speaking, no, but anecdotally it sounds like the Hawaii routes see way more than their fair share of swaps to the old config. I've yet to experience an updated cabin on those routes despite the seat map always showing 1-2-1 at booking (which is actually fine with me since I prefer the old seats, but many people don't, of course).

Edit - Just as a spot check, both of today's DFW-OGG flights, and 2 of the 3 DFW-HNL flights, have been switched to the old configuration.

OP - for more info I'd suggest these two threads:

OP, when members with 1000 times more posts than you are confused by your abbreviations, you have a communication problem.

Maybe equipment swaps are a common occurrence on Thai Airways? ;)

The Acronym Finder website suggests 95 possibilities:

Yes, TG = notorious for equipment swaps

But I figure that someone based in the US would not know about this that much...

Trans gendered.

Lucky actually uses TG as a verb in this context, so my money's on that. :)

@:-) Correct! ^

Sorry for any confusion guys. I've seen the term used in a lot of different blogs and forums, even on FT.

Thanks so much for the links and guidance on this. Being the super nerd that I am, I wasn't sure if anyone knew some % probability of it happening, or if there was a website that would shed some nerdy light on the subject. Hoping for the newer J class seats in Sept!
