AA Boeing 767-323ER (31 in Fleet)

There are urgently two variants of Boeing 767-323ER used on DFW - Hawai'i flights:

Boeing 767-300ER "model 1": 30 J/F angled flat "NGBC" seats in five rows laid out 2 x 2 x 2 across; 28 Main Cabin Extra / MCE stats in 2 x 3 x 2 (other than row 17, 2 x 2 used for crew rest on long haul sectors; 160 Main Cabin / Economy seats with 31" seat pitch. Link to SeatGuru seat chart for this aircraft. (7 as of Aug 2027.)

Boeing 767-300ER "model 2": 28 fully flat Thompson Vantage seats in seven rows laid out 1 - 2 - 1 with all aisle access; 21 Main Cabin Extra / MCE stats in 2 x 3 x 2 (other than row 17, 2 x 2 used for crew rest on long haul sectors; 160 Main Cabin / Economy seats with 31" seat pitch. Link to SeatGuru seat chart for this aircraft. (24 as of August 2017.)

It has been rumored the seven "NGBC" aircraft will be retired relatively soon.

The "CIP" variant with new J/F seats is prioritized for transatlantic routes due to the Joint Business Agreement with AA, AY, BA, IB. CIP aircraft scheduled for Hawai'i service may have old "NGBC" types substituted for various reasons up until time of departure.

As of 04 Jun 2017, 24 aircraft (77% of the of entire active fleet of 31) have been converted. These include N342AN, N343AN*, N344AN*, N346AN*, N347AN*, N348AN*, N349AN, N350AN*, N379AA, N381AN, N384AA, N385AM, N388AA, N389AA, N390AA, N391AA, N392AN, N393AN, N394AN, N395AN, N396AN, N397AN, N398AN, and N399AN*.

I think meunger11 when he gets done with his trip will have a full TR with pics of the FT takeover of F (with some rather embarrassing shots of myself) and I will try to add more commentary then. I am actually posting this from my room at the wonderful Grand Hyatt Kauai, but for now here are a few snippets from our Sept 1st flight#123 DFW-HNL. After showing a CIP seat map for months when i got up at 3 am it had switched to a non CIP

1) First and foremost by the luck of the draw we got to sit beside him and his wife which was a real treat. Excellent conversation was had all thru what seemed to be a very long 8 hours. It is rare you meet someone on a plane that you have so much to talk about and that you just click with. We must have been separated at birth or something. It was clear early on that our row would be the "trouble" section for the FA's Many jokes were made about how AA's new motto should be "and you thought United was bad"! Be sure to ask him what his wife said about him texting someone named Kelly several times in the wee hours of the morning!

They got on the plane before us and I had told him where we were sitting, which after the config change we had asked to be moved just prior to boarding which he did not know. Long story short he texts me from the plane saying someone poached your seat! Do you want me to kick their ...? I then told him we got new seats. lol FT folks have to stick together

2) We had a goal, and we achieved it, which was to drink the entire planes stock of Prosecco!

3) We needed all that to ease the pain, of what we both agreed, was the worst F we have ever been in.

4) just proir to landing at HNL we spotted Air Force 1 on the ground there, which my personal feelings aside about Obama, was very cool to see!

5) we ate very little of, what was the worst food I have ever had on a plane. We went to Geneva last year on UA in E+ and the food was light years better. It was practically uneatable aside from the sundays which we all enjoyed

6) I know we both are hoping, now more than ever, to get a CIP plane for the return. I hated the non CIP. Yes it was that bad.

And in an effort to not end on a bad note I want to say on our BNA-DFW we had the best FA's I have ever experienced in F. So friendly/professional. They were constantly going up and down thru F checking and rechecking if they could get us anything. Excellent service ^

Proud to report CIP on the return. Can't wait to report in the TR forum.

While there isn't an advertisement for the lie-flat seat they are selling the lie-flat 1-2-1 product and delivering (mostly) the wanna-be lie-flat 2-2-2 and are doing it on purpose to avoid downgrade issues. I fly HNL-ORD several times a year and have paid more to route through DFW to try to take advantage of the lie-flat product and have been disappointed with the last minute equipment swap every time. Sad that they can block crew rest but couldn't block one additional seat to account for the possibility of using the 1-2-1 equipment.

Sorry I didn't use the appropriate abbreviations!

It looks like flight 123 (DFW to HNL) changes from a 763 to a 772 on 12/23/16. Noticed this when I was trying to book a trip to HNL for January.

I had an FA tell me this very thing was going to happen a couple weeks ago on my DFW-HNL flight. She also said it would only last for about a month.

#5 DFW-HNL today was 1-2-1 seating. Tail #395AN. The config was supposed to be 2-2-2. The tail number changed about four or five times according to a tracking site, all with planes having the old 2-2-2 seating. While walking to the gate in DFW, maybe 90 minutes before departure, a gate change announcement was made and we were informed the flight had just changed to a plane with the 1-2-1 seating.

This is straight up false advertising by AA. They pull this BS all the time showing 1-2-1 and then switch to 2-2-2 at the last minute. Just did it for our flight to OGG tomorrow. Been showing 1-2-1 the entire time and just switched to 2-2-2. Total trash tactic by AA that happens over and over again.

If it matters that much to you, why do you keep buying these tickets knowing that this happens all the time?

767 HNL to DFW - old F seats?

ok so i found some outdated info on 767 for HNL to DFW. While they use the new seat map for reservations, they were typically changing the aircraft last minute to the old angled seats.

I know they continue to refurb the 767 aircraft with their lie flat product.

Question is when will we know that we'll likely get lie flat HNL DFW? Not sure what the timeline is for the remaining 767's and if they plan to do them all or not.

thanks in advance -

Aloha!

No more 763s will get refurb. However, by year end there will only be 5 or 6 non refurb 763s will be left. Still, the refurbished a/c will be used first and foremost on TATL.

Don't believe any more 763s are scheduled to be retrofitted. Over the next year or so, the non retrofitted planes will be retired --- leaving just the retrofitted. So, for the next year the probability of the old configuration showing up on the DFW Hawaii routes is fairly high since they try to use the retrofitted on international routes. Of course, the probability of an old config will continue to decrease.

No issue. Refurbed 763s have 27J. Old 763s have 28J.
