65,000 miles or $243?
Ok, here's a good one... Why is it that on a day when the cheapest available award is 65,000 miles for an Economy AAnytime award, I am able to book a paid fare for $243?
What gives?

So, book the paid ticket.........
Award travel is not an exact science.
Nothing new here, and not limited to AA
In the old days, when Aanytime Economy was 25K and Saaver First was available for 25K. I also booked first class tickets for 25K instead of spending 25K for economy.

Because miles (unlike hard currency = $, EUROS, Yen, etc.) are a "fiction" of AA's imagination. If I am buying miles from AA there is a totally different system (value placed on miles) than when I want to use them to fly.
[If AA allowed one to buy and sell miles on a World Wide Exchange, things would be different.]

AA simply isn't that way. Nor is anyone but WN and JB. You can find great point values sometimes. You find terrible points values at other times. Use points in the former and dollars in the latter.
Maybe someday it will change.

I am going to book the paid ticket. I'm just annoyed, that's all.
And don't get me started about B6 redemption.... that rant belongs in a different forum.

Then fly on a different date, or to a different location. There are plenty of great redemption values out there! They just won't always be to WHERE and WHEN you want to go. @:-)

Because a cheap fare x 3 is not that cheap any more, and I was hoping for a decent value for mileage redemption instead.
