AA 787-9 / 789 DFW-LAX-DFW Inaugural Flight 6 Oct 2016
 

Anyone here booked on flights 2401/2561 October 6th?
I have BOS/DFW Oct 5th.
DFW/LAX/DFW(789)BOS Oct 6th.
At the moment, seats on the 789 can't be assigned.

i tried, no seating all the way to Nov. doubt there will be much open in biz... press, bloggers, etc

Tickets can be purchased but all seats in the main cabin are currently blocked.

Seems to be the case for a lot of flights currently. Had a bunch of equipment / time changes and I'm not able to select a seat.

I just put a business itinerary on hold on AA and was able to take the last window in Business, 1L.

I'm correct in assuming that the inaugural revenue flight for a new plane is worth getting on, yes?

I'm booked in F roundtrip. I had no difficulty in getting seat assignments.

Flying in from ORD the day before.

Annd I'm going to have to release my hold on 1L - I'm in Europe that week until the 8th. Darn, I was kinda looking forward to something like this.

I guess I'll have to wait until someone in NA brings the A350 into service.

If someone in this thread wants that window seat, PM me and I'll release my hold to coincide with when you book.

I just booked one in Y on the 6th. Not able to select seat.

I just booked my ticket on 2401 and can't select seats either. It was only $69.

I booked my outbound LA to DFW for only $39 on the 777 and got a J seat (sold as Y).

Can I ask where you/anyone has seen the domestic temporary 789 routes? I don't see mention of it anywhere other than this and the MR thread, and my app shows the flight numbers as 32B's. I see on AA's website (First sold out on many dates) that it's the 789 though. I'm just worried that I would book this and it would get subbed, United had this problem with their dreamliners.

Also, if it says first is unavailable, but shows the system wide upgrade icon...does that mean I can get a first seat?

Double also: I've never been a part of an inaugural flight. If anyone else booked a first class ticket on hold and can't make it, maybe pm me? Or would it be worthwhile in Y? If I could get one of the PE seats I'd think about it, but I'm guessing it will incredibly hard to get with the competition.

Where is the 789 flying??
 

I know that AA takes delivery of the 789. I saw on One mile at a time that the first DFW-LAX flight is Oct 6. I wanted to fly the biz class on the run. Can anyone post the initial flight schedule of the new plane. Typically it spends a month or so doing domestic hops to get crew acclimated to the aircraft.
I went on AA.com to try and book and it shows plane as A321
