Personalized connection information will continue to be given to those passengers sitting in the F cabin and all Executive Platinums and Concierge Key customers in main cabin. FAs can get this info on their tablet which can be update in-flight on wi-fi equipped aircraft to be the most up to date. ^

So if you have a tight connection (even if you aren't EP, CK or sitting up front) you could, perhaps, ask the FA for information to help - so you can start heading in the right direction immediately after leaving the aircraft.

AA "No longer Providing Connecting Gate Info"
Good Morning,
Just landed at DFW and heard the following over the PA, "As of today American is no longer providing connecting gate information while on board aircraft...check monitors"
Why?

I'll miss them a bit, especially when landing to a hub. I always enjoyed thinking back, or ahead, about some of the far flung destinations that magically one can connect to.
London, Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Narita, Seoul, Hong Kong and the list goes on. Always put a smile on my face.
It will not be the same looking at a seat back TV screen. Seems more impersonal.

Or as soon as you land, go to the AA app and look up the current gate information there if the FA won't or can't provide the info.

Sitting on a DEN-PHX flight where the FA just read a list of connecting flights.
Throwback...
(and to the person travelling from DEN to DRO via PHX...well done on avoiding UA?)

Yeah, it’s underwhelming and occurs possibly with less frequency than ODB even.
I use my cell phone to look up connecting information on aa.com using the aircraft’s WiFi, since connecting with aa.com is free. And double check on the ground, because...

For aircraft equipped with seat-back AVOD, there is also that gentle pause during entertainment to alert passengers that connecting gate information is available but it doesn't seem like it has real-time updates after the initial notification based on my own experience so the app or AA.com approach is probably more accurate.

So, they can't give the FA's the latest information on their devices to make a simple announcement? As far as I'm concerned, this is what they get paid for. Instead, on my last flight which arrived 20 minutes late in PHX, I was personally looking up gates for people around me -- because the AA employees couldn't be bothered (or were banned from telling us). Dougie's idea of "non-customer service", I suppose. For every flight that is over 15 minutes late, an agent should be standing at the jetway door with connecting gate information.
