Truly no rhyme or reason, though frankly, I do like the variation.
So, what you are saying is, your kit has never been downgraded

In three recent transcon flights, I've received:

Old heritage J kit on westbound J
New international J kit on eastbound F
New international J kit on westbound J

Intl Bus - DFW ICN - I had the teal one and navy on a RT. I guess these must be very collectible as I was asked by the attendant to swap with an unruly passenger who demanded another color...

I have no need for 50% of the items but the kit bag is great inside my backpack.
Used it to carry receipts, coins, and small misc items.

I had so many of them in my closet, thinking I will use them in the future... but I never do. They are all the light and dark blue ones.

I will say that on my recent LHR-DFW, I got a gray/orange one that I really like. I cleaned out the 5 or so old kits I had kept and now only have the gray/orange. ^

I keep all of mine and my wife donates them to a women's shelter. While I don't need them (or the contents) there are others that a happy to have them.

My favorites were the old felt first class ones - I still use a couple of them on every trip, one for cords and adapters and the other for medicines and first aid.
