Had some good and not so good WX rebooking during the recent DFW debacle.
After 1.5 hr EXP line wait I got an agent who denied the OW separate ticket policy existed and refused to fix my separate ticket misconnect due to the DFW CXLs. Not wanting to call back in again I stupidly wrangled for 40 minutes trying to get a decent J rebooking. She kept trying to downgrade some of my paid J flights into coach and was making me miss a day of my trip with an overnight in the US. She also refused to put me on anything but AA metal. I finally read the separate ticket policy to her off website. She talked to a super and finally agreed and went on hold and started rebooking me without consulting me on any choices. She just reissued my ticket before she got back on the line. She put in coach domestically and then 763 angle flats TATL. I had been in 77W in J with a SWU to go to F.
Once I saw plane type and seat map online, I was a bit unhappy needless to say. I called back to EXP line and waited for 2 hrs for callback (thank goodness for this feature tho), but this time was re-accommodated on BA on a more direct routing.
Later on 3rd agent fixed up the few loose ends on the return due to the rebooking on a short trip and she was a gem too. These last 2 were awesome and very accommodating. I hate not being able to easily HUCA when the line delays are so bad on EXP line.
I can't imagine how bad the WX rebooking must be for nonEXPs.

getting off a plane on the "tarmac" too long
If a pax became ill (real or feigned) wouldn't aa (or any airline) be required to call paramedics [they don't want a dead body on the plane too long
]?

weather rebooking exceptions listing on aa.com
A few weeks ago due to weather, I had to use an "exception"
. As noted in a few posts above, it "seems" aa is trying to hide their existence [I only found it by knowing where to search]. The link should be prominently displayed.

It could definitely be more prominent. It's certainly not the first place you look. I searched the front page for a minute or two and didn't see it. I had to google it to find it.

PS: I just turned on my mini IPAD, the AA CC offer is right up front, the ORD notice, requires scrolling (assuming you know it is even there).

Well, I feel so sorry for those who aren't! 
I've flown AA since the 1940s, but when I joined and began reading FlyerTalk, I learned how to properly squeeze the Orange, I dropped my CO OnePass and TW Aviator status, up my AAdvantage gleanings and status and maximize my flying experiences and comfort on AA and it's partners. That was very useful when I was working and flying 150,000+ miles annually.
I like to pass it on / pay it forward in appreciation of those who educated me, and the OSO number (prominently featured in my mobile's contacts list) is one of those helpful bits when DFW, ORD or the northeast air OP's go belly up.

For what it's worth, four of the eight hubs are impacted by snow / weather issues 3 March through 5 March - LGA/JFK, ORD, PHL, DFW. Although not a hub, surprisingly BOS is not on the list for this storm.

On Sunday, 3/1/15, AA44 (las to jfk), did leave on time (8:10 am), but due to weather in NYC was diverted to BOS.

LAX-DFW having issues, too. Departures at 1455, 1530 and 1700 cancelled today, though the 1815 and 1855 departures are still on the schedule.

With the memory of last week’s weather-caused disruptions fresh in everybody’s minds, American Airlines informs us that it has canceled about 250 Dallas/Fort Worth departures for Wednesday afternoon and evening as the next ice storm approaches.
A similar number of arriving flights has also been canceled.
As of 1 p.m., FlightStats.com is showing 293 canceled departures from D/FW Airport and another 320 arrivals canceled for Wednesday. It also lists 108 departures and 149 arrivals canceled already for Thursday, with the bulk coming in the morning.

Hundreds of AA flights canceled in and out of JFK/LGA today due to heavy snow. For a perspective, I park my car at CitiField from which you can see LGA. When exiting the Whitestone Expwy, I could not see the end of Runway 13. I thought I heard jet engines, and I presume if anything was departing it was using 31 due to wind direction. If your flight hasn't been canceled, expect long departure delays for plowing and de-icing. Pretty much a washout in NY today because as of 1100am EST it is snowing very hard in midtown.
