American Airlines ConciergeKeySM / "CK" Program (by invitation only)
(Includes Executive Platinum status and Admirals Club membership)

NOTE: For questions such as "How can I get Concierge Key?" or "This is my spend: will I get CK?" Please refer to the How do I make / making AA Concierge Key / ConciergeKey / CK?thread

Also see AA Concierge Key invitations / renewal for 2019 status (out early 12/2018).

13 Apr 2020: AAdvantage extends CK status is extended automatically until Jan 31, 2022.

"The ConciergeKey Program is an exclusive program that American Airlines has for our very top customers. This is by invitation only and a very exclusive club." (Billy Sanez for AA)

ConciergeKey Services are provided to a select group of VIPs to facilitate travel on AA. The program is offered on an invitation basis only and is targeted at customers who control travel policy for large organizations. Customers who generate a high amount of revenue for AA may also be invited into this program (possibly those who spend upwards of US$60k a year on travel with AA).

Services provided include airport escorts and pre-boarding (seems variable, more likely during OSO?); assistance with flight changes, seat changes, and upgrade requests via their own dedicated telephone line. In addition, there is the ability to communicate directly with ConciergeKey associates via a dedicated email address. ConciergeKeySM representatives will also monitor day of travel of ConciergeKey members and will proactively reroute or rebook travel when necessary. ConciergeKey status allows check-in at First Class counters, as well as access to elite lines through security at certain airports. Miles and copay upgrades with copay waived.

ConciergeKey is now a distinct elite tier, above Executive Platinum. ConciergeKey benefits include membership to the Admirals Club, international miles upgrades with copayment waived, as well as two additional System-Wide Upgrades (SWU's) as part of CK membership.

CK members have access to Flagship Check-in on any flight, and CK will have Flagship Lounge access when flying a OneWorld airline.

As of 1 Jan 2017, Concierge Key members have upgrade requests prioritized over all other tiers: CK members have an upgrade window of (up to) 120 hours (Executive Platinum member's will retain the 100 hour upgrade window). CK members will board ahead of other passengers.

Regarding Concierge Key tier benefits coming in 2017, please see: New Concierge Key Benefits for 2017: New CK Elite Status Tier

Please: do respect members' privacy by refraining from asking for overly personal information and details relating to ConciergeKey membership or nomination. If your question receives no response, consider the member chooses not to reply, as is his/her right.

Boarding Area's AAdvantageGeek's blog shows the card and documents here.

Mostly miss just a quick call to fix a flight and instant back-ups which is very important to me. Global Lounge access would be next. I buy first always so upgrades don't matter. Fingers crossed.
just entered the challenge. If I dont make it I would still be EP or is it from scratch?

CK experience was actually pretty decent last Thursday at DFW amidst the total banana dance of back-to-back bad weather days. At different points during my 8 hours at DFW I was on 4 different flights DFW > ORD (with two protections in F while I was booked on other flights waiting to go). Got a golf cart ride to the Flagship lounge once it became clear my day was going sideways. Place was packed but still much more pleasant than the concourse or the Admirals Clubs. Once my final final gate appeared to be in A, moved to stage at the Admirals lounge there, they moved the inbound equipment arrival to B. Had an agent pro-actively call me to inform me of that and tell me that the crew for our flight was just starting their 3 day and was all accounted for and waiting at the gate for the inbound equipment to clear. On boarding (in a very chaotic set up of gates) had the GA make eye contact with me when she called CK and she took the time to open up a few sets of ropes so I didn't have to go through the scrum. Made is home ~7 hours late but given all the cancellations that day felt lucky to get home and not miss my Friday tee time. I would note that CK had also protected me on a direct flight the next day in steerage just in case things went really poorly. I felt pretty grateful for all the help in navigating IRROPs given the scale of the logistical issues being faced by AA down there last week.

What are your LPs going into the challenge? You will retain those LPs however to make the metrics, that starts from 0. That is what was so frustrating when I did the challenge last year. I went in with over 100k LPs but had to start all over again. You will see 2 sets of LPs. One total and then the one in promotions that go toward CK.

I am currently at 170k LP. So worst case scenario I will be EP. I dont see myself flying that much in order to meet the metrics of the challenge

One more data point. Spoke to a friend this weekend who is Lifetime Global on UA and has been CK for years as well. Only purchases refundable J and F and mostly international long haul. He got a call from AA a couple of months back who said he had just missed CK. He said and... I'm lifetime on UA so if you don't want my business, I'm fine. Got a call back a couple of weeks later that he had been granted CK. He said that IRROPS and the occasional tarmac transfer are the only benefits he really cares about since the others (lounge, baggage, boarding) come with the ticket purchase. I don't think he has ever checked a bag.. its delivered to the location before hand.

Reflections on CK Six Weeks In

Ive flown 22 segments (all domestic) since making CK and wanted to share a few thoughts.

Ill start with positives:
  • IROPS Treatment: It has been great (the only reason I know this is that most of my flights have gone sideways). I was a savvy EP flyer with IROPS (find options for an agent to book, get back ups in place), but the proactive approach from the CK team has been great. I still do my homework, but the team will call saying that they saw the delay and lined up multiple back up flights and have gotten me on the ones that I have suggested. There are at least two trips where Id be stuck overnight without the support (one was calling the gate in PHL to not close up early).
  • Boarding: I seldom boarded with group 1 unless I really wanted to secure bag space or traveling with the wife, who likes being on early. I am now getting on early more often than not unless doing work at the club or running late. I like that they make it clear that CK is a separate group (versus group 0 with GGL). The premium services agent at the gate is a nice touch as well.
  • FL Access: Nice to have as it is often quieter, expanded food offerings and alcohol (often not drinking, but good it is there). The only downside to the FLs and why I sometimes go to the ACs is that there arent to-go coffee cups. Chelsea and CCR access is a big plus, though it would be nice if Chelsea access would be expanded to all flights
  • Cart and car transfers: when Ive gotten them, theyve saved ~15-20 minutes of walking or taking a bus (LAX).
  • Upgrades: The 5-day window is nice. I think I would have still cleared them as a high-LP EXP, but still a positive.

Areas for improvement:
  • Onboard: they should take CK food and beverage orders first. This has zero monetary cost to AA and would improve the experience.
  • Complementary premium food / drink in ACs: a relatively easy thing to do and Id suspect most members wouldnt go overboard, thus not resulting in a big financial hit (this would be a fraction of a fraction of a basis point to AA anyway).
  • Consistent ground treatment: IROPS help has been on point, however I didnt get a cart when I needed it the most (though I got a phone call) when going from the far end of B to C at PHL on a 20 min connection. Got a nice quarter mile run in per my Fitbit .
There were a couple of other improvements, but theyve escaped me. Net net, noticeable step up from EP, it is great to have as someone who is on a plane a lot, and hoping I dont lose it next year!

Congrats on becoming CK. I just wanted to point out a couple of things in your post to illustrate CK pre and post-COVID. I sometimes go to the ACs is that there arent to-go coffee cups. There used to be to-go coffee cups but since the alcohol is self-serve, people were putting alcohol in them..... or so a friend told me..... and taking them out so they stopped that. Complementary premium food / drink in ACs: a relatively easy thing to do. There used to be drink coupons for CKs prior to COVID so you could get the high shelf stuff in the regular clubs complimentary but that stopped after COVID. Another thing we USED to get was complimentary passes to FFD up to 4 a year for non-qualifying flights. That also stopped during COVID and was a sore spot since all the clubs were closed and so the passes expired. They wouldn't reissue the passes after the FFD opened, albeit in only 2 locations. It isn't the program it used to be but still has nice perks. Enjoy.

Great context and I figured that some of these items had been things of the past.

Ive been told the same with respect to the to-go cups. The same was also the case for a few weeks in BOS when they rolled out the new food, but fortunately they returned. I may or may not have been given at least one to-go cup of Blue from the JFK FFD (made the walk to C more enjoyable), but I dont see why they wouldnt have cups in the kitchen. Oh well.

Had to fly to FUK this last Tuesday via DFW and had another mixed bag experience. A majority of my travel is international and normally when I connect through DFW, I at least get a CK call updating me about my flight and at times an agent meeting me with a cart to take me to FL. This time, nada. Maybe they're all overworked from last week's storms, but was kind of surprised that I didn't even get a CK call updating me on my flight since I had a 4 hour wait before HND. Once I got to HND for my FUK connection with JAL, I was met with a JAL service agent the moment I stepped off the plane and she whisked me through immigration and customs, and then had a private car waiting to take me to the domestic side for my FUK connection. It's just kind of mind blowing to me that the service I wish to receive from being an AA CK, I get it all the time with JAL.
