American Airlines ConciergeKeySM / "CK" Program (by invitation only)
(Includes Executive Platinum status and Admirals Club membership)

NOTE: For questions such as "How can I get Concierge Key?" or "This is my spend: will I get CK?" Please refer to the How do I make / making AA Concierge Key / ConciergeKey / CK?thread

Also see AA Concierge Key invitations / renewal for 2019 status (out early 12/2018).

13 Apr 2020: AAdvantage extends CK status is extended automatically until Jan 31, 2022.

"The ConciergeKey Program is an exclusive program that American Airlines has for our very top customers. This is by invitation only and a very exclusive club." (Billy Sanez for AA)

ConciergeKey Services are provided to a select group of VIPs to facilitate travel on AA. The program is offered on an invitation basis only and is targeted at customers who control travel policy for large organizations. Customers who generate a high amount of revenue for AA may also be invited into this program (possibly those who spend upwards of US$60k a year on travel with AA).

Services provided include airport escorts and pre-boarding (seems variable, more likely during OSO?); assistance with flight changes, seat changes, and upgrade requests via their own dedicated telephone line. In addition, there is the ability to communicate directly with ConciergeKey associates via a dedicated email address. ConciergeKeySM representatives will also monitor day of travel of ConciergeKey members and will proactively reroute or rebook travel when necessary. ConciergeKey status allows check-in at First Class counters, as well as access to elite lines through security at certain airports. Miles and copay upgrades with copay waived.

ConciergeKey is now a distinct elite tier, above Executive Platinum. ConciergeKey benefits include membership to the Admirals Club, international miles upgrades with copayment waived, as well as two additional System-Wide Upgrades (SWU's) as part of CK membership.

CK members have access to Flagship Check-in on any flight, and CK will have Flagship Lounge access when flying a OneWorld airline.

As of 1 Jan 2017, Concierge Key members have upgrade requests prioritized over all other tiers: CK members have an upgrade window of (up to) 120 hours (Executive Platinum member's will retain the 100 hour upgrade window). CK members will board ahead of other passengers.

Regarding Concierge Key tier benefits coming in 2017, please see: New Concierge Key Benefits for 2017: New CK Elite Status Tier

Please: do respect members' privacy by refraining from asking for overly personal information and details relating to ConciergeKey membership or nomination. If your question receives no response, consider the member chooses not to reply, as is his/her right.

Boarding Area's AAdvantageGeek's blog shows the card and documents here.

That is so true. It’s almost laughable that Platinum is the top lifetime status at AA, no matter how much you spend or fly with them. I’ve probably missed the chance to get to lifetime GGL on BA, but lifetime Gold is probably doable. Definitely something to consider depending on what happens with CK going forward.

WARNING - SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC POST

I know the CK bag tags we receive are supercool (albeit too loudly clang on one's bag, for me, at least), but this is also completely amazing. Sad that AA could not figure out how to do this with Citi.

Another off topic post, which should at least help distract us all from the elephant in the room at the moment.

Has anyone else noticed that the seat maps on aa.com are wildly inaccurate as regards available seats on any given flight? I prefer window seats when I fly TATL F, and it seems that more than half the time I check recently, the seats noted as available on the website are actually not available when I make the actual reservation. I've gotten caught a few times already from that, so now I call and make the reservation on the phone, so at least then I know before I buy the tickets what seats are truly available for my preferred flights.

And a related question, are the seat maps on Expert Flyer more accurate than on AA's website as regards actual open seats on any given flight, as if yes, I may join for that reason alone.

FWIW

Just called into the CK line, was told that they were told today that renewals would be processed by the end of the week. The agent pointed out that tomorrow was friday and didnt seem too confident in what he was told.

do we think that if the renewal does not come through they will offer a challenge? What have the challenges in the past looked like?

The late CK notifications has been serendipitous by showing (at least my travel patterns) that BA GGL is a better long term rebate program than AA's CK. With GGL, it's actually nice to be able to spend on the One World Alliance, metal you actually want to fly on, and not worry about flying only on AA metal to obtain CK. Never even thought of researching BA's program until now, and was never on my radar.

I just calculated out the tier points for my ex-HNL flights, and I'm going to save myself time (shorter flights; more time with family), money in fares, and still pretty much get what matters the most as a CK (decent lounge access and seeing the same great front line AA customer service agents).

Once HA joins OW ecosystem, if inter island flights start to count towards TPs, then the BA loyalty system for Honolulu based AA fliers is a no brainer.

Well this is a new one - literally over a week after the reply referenced above I just got a phone call apologizing on being called “executive platinum” in an email when I was CK. I said “no problem, do you know if my status will be renewed past next week?”

A: “I’ll have to have AA Customer Service get back to you on that.”

seriously? Wow…they are so so so broken. I can’t even believe they would call to apologize for referring to me as EXP less than a week before my CK status expires and they don’t know if I’m going to be renewed?

Do you think it's because they read this board? I'm sure they do, but how would they know your real name to associate to your screen name to call you? Or am I misinterpreting what happened?

That is seriously cool. Imagine having a CK specific Citi card. Amex still has the Centurion Black cards. I also think of that scene from Up in the Air when Clooney flashes his CK card. These little details around status engender loyalty. If AA can't figure it out, why can't Citi?

Because AA doesn't have the bandwidth to do so.

On their investor call, they are looking to cut jobs this year.

AA is focusing on small to medium airports, what good does that do CKs if AA aren't willing to build infrastructure/staff to support premiums services? With the small to medium airport long term plan, I really do not see a bright future for CKs, to include any metal credit cards.

Delta is all about the "flashy show" to draw attention to premium flyers on their old cost cutting product. So having a metal CC for Delta is their long term plan and modus operandi. Not AA's.

For what it is worth, that card had a habit of setting off the sensitive metal detectors.

Will be interesting to see if the renewal notices are sent out with the invites.

Same as others; just logged in and say 4/30/25. Note: I was on a 6/30/24 renewal as a legacy Airpass member so wasn't sure if my timing would be the same. But looks like I was renewed and moved on cycle.
No email or call or anything, but account was updated at some point today.
