American Airlines ConciergeKeySM / "CK" Program (by invitation only)
(Includes Executive Platinum status and Admirals Club membership)

NOTE: For questions such as "How can I get Concierge Key?" or "This is my spend: will I get CK?" Please refer to the How do I make / making AA Concierge Key / ConciergeKey / CK?thread

Also see AA Concierge Key invitations / renewal for 2019 status (out early 12/2018).

13 Apr 2020: AAdvantage extends CK status is extended automatically until Jan 31, 2022.

"The ConciergeKey Program is an exclusive program that American Airlines has for our very top customers. This is by invitation only and a very exclusive club." (Billy Sanez for AA)

ConciergeKey Services are provided to a select group of VIPs to facilitate travel on AA. The program is offered on an invitation basis only and is targeted at customers who control travel policy for large organizations. Customers who generate a high amount of revenue for AA may also be invited into this program (possibly those who spend upwards of US$60k a year on travel with AA).

Services provided include airport escorts and pre-boarding (seems variable, more likely during OSO?); assistance with flight changes, seat changes, and upgrade requests via their own dedicated telephone line. In addition, there is the ability to communicate directly with ConciergeKey associates via a dedicated email address. ConciergeKeySM representatives will also monitor day of travel of ConciergeKey members and will proactively reroute or rebook travel when necessary. ConciergeKey status allows check-in at First Class counters, as well as access to elite lines through security at certain airports. Miles and copay upgrades with copay waived.

ConciergeKey is now a distinct elite tier, above Executive Platinum. ConciergeKey benefits include membership to the Admirals Club, international miles upgrades with copayment waived, as well as two additional System-Wide Upgrades (SWU's) as part of CK membership.

CK members have access to Flagship Check-in on any flight, and CK will have Flagship Lounge access when flying a OneWorld airline.

As of 1 Jan 2017, Concierge Key members have upgrade requests prioritized over all other tiers: CK members have an upgrade window of (up to) 120 hours (Executive Platinum member's will retain the 100 hour upgrade window). CK members will board ahead of other passengers.

Regarding Concierge Key tier benefits coming in 2017, please see: New Concierge Key Benefits for 2017: New CK Elite Status Tier

Please: do respect members' privacy by refraining from asking for overly personal information and details relating to ConciergeKey membership or nomination. If your question receives no response, consider the member chooses not to reply, as is his/her right.

Boarding Area's AAdvantageGeek's blog shows the card and documents here.

They are. And it's why AA is happy for you to keep going via NRT/HND.

The issue is that QR and CX are far more useful for the majority of Asia. And neither of those are in a JV with AA.

Still waiting to hear myself. While I haven't received anything saying no, I'm (sadly) in the process of taking screenshots of my account and all the CK info pages to have some momentos of my CK status in case this is the last night I have it.

I fell all the way to Platinum today. I earned CK with many flights back and forth to Tokyo for work. Like many of us, the pandemic killed that. Interestingly, I will be flying back and forth to Tokyo again starting in June for a 1 year consulting gig, so I will at least claw myself back to up EP.

It's been nice hanging out with you all in this thread over the last 4 years. Fly well my friends.

Thinking it was a fluke I checked again this morning and the date was still there, and 2 SWUs had been deposited. Still have t received an email, but happy as a clam. I’m toggling between “somebody made something up when writing the email and they weren’t really done making decisions” and “they are going back through the list and reconsidering people.”

Call me happy but confused!
Out of curiosity, what were your flying stats and LPs last year, and where are you based?

AA Status Challenge for EXP? Get the benefits now and earn 11X LP instead of 8X for plat and get back to EXP faster? (and soften the crash landing you just took)

Zero idea if this is possible or if you can talk them into a free challenge, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. One online post suggested a $200 fee and suggested the AAdvantage customer service at 800-882-8880 was where to start.

Great suggestion. I asked the CK deck this very thing yesterday via email. They replied that they forwarded the email to the AAdvantage Customer Service as they are the ones to decide. I will follow-up with them via phone if I don't hear anything after a week or so. The CK desk also advised to not start the challenge until I begin flying again to Japan (June).

I do think the part where they said they very much prefer you to fly AA metal was interesting, particularly as just earlier today another CK member here said they heard differently, that BA spend was considered essentially equivalent to AA spend, at least on TATL routes. It may be that both are true, but that the BA/AA JV is different than the relationship with other OW members, but I guess if nothing else it confirms the vagueness and lack of clarity that surrounds CK qualification.
I really wish we could get a definitive answer with respect to BA as I'm very much considering moving to their First Class product on the A380 once Flagship First is discontinued on the 777-300ER.

I completely agree, and I too would like to increase my travel in BA First, but I’m hesitant to do it so long as there’s some doubt and concern that shifting significant spend to BA could negatively impact my CK status in the future.

Of course, we don't know for sure, but I do observe that when CK challenges are issued, the flights must be on AA metal. I very much enjoy F on the BA A380, but I am not sure it is worth potentially giving up CK for. YMMV.

I must say, I'm disappointed in AA's communications. Yes, I'm EXP as of the first now after having been a CK for almost a decade. While I think it's not a smart decision, my seat (and therefore my perspective) is not the same as AA's. That said, you'd think there would be a more hands on approach to downgrading a key that has been tremendously profitable, is capable of directing travel, and shows a considerable ramp up over the past 6 months in spend as we get back to normal. This isn't meant to be a DYKWIA post by any means, instead focused on the program itself and intentionality to drive profitable spend.

I was going to post something very similar. I was very disappointed that there was no contact regarding my downgrade after ~7 years as a CK. It would have been nice to have received at least an email, and maybe a brief period of continued AC access to give me a chance to figure out if/how I want to setup a membership. I even think a "soft landing" to EXP would have been a nice gesture, and that would come at very low cost to AA, I'd think.

About half of my 2022 LPs were from BA First on their A380 and B787 services to LHR. Seems to me that they must count toward CK status. This was true both before and after the pandemic for me.

What I was told last year was that despite the JV being in place, the preference is AA metal… My view is that all things generally being equal, personal preference is to fly on BA (at least westbound) as it is generally more enjoyable. Eastbound is moot as the goal is to maximize sleep. It’s a little odd as I’m pretty sure that AA has stated they view these routes as metal-agnostic, which makes sense given the JV.

I’ve considered going for GGL, but I value EXP (hopefully CK at some point) for IROPS, upgrades etc.

So odd one today. Have been CK for 7 years or so, lost it, no communication on it per above, so now EP again. So I was on a flight and now that I have been demoted I was 5th or 6th on the upgrade list and then it got confirmed - I jumped everyone somehow. They were all odd names too so wasn't a scenario, especially with that many people ahead of me, that everyone said no and it happened way before the flight like it used to as a CK where I am just gone from the list...Am I still getting CK love? Thoughts - it was bizarre, but I am good with it! Anyone experience something similar?
