American Airlines ConciergeKeySM / "CK" Program (by invitation only)
(Includes Executive Platinum status and Admirals Club membership)

NOTE: For questions such as "How can I get Concierge Key?" or "This is my spend: will I get CK?" Please refer to the How do I make / making AA Concierge Key / ConciergeKey / CK?thread

Also see AA Concierge Key invitations / renewal for 2019 status (out early 12/2018).

13 Apr 2020: AAdvantage extends CK status is extended automatically until Jan 31, 2022.

"The ConciergeKey Program is an exclusive program that American Airlines has for our very top customers. This is by invitation only and a very exclusive club." (Billy Sanez for AA)

ConciergeKey Services are provided to a select group of VIPs to facilitate travel on AA. The program is offered on an invitation basis only and is targeted at customers who control travel policy for large organizations. Customers who generate a high amount of revenue for AA may also be invited into this program (possibly those who spend upwards of US$60k a year on travel with AA).

Services provided include airport escorts and pre-boarding (seems variable, more likely during OSO?); assistance with flight changes, seat changes, and upgrade requests via their own dedicated telephone line. In addition, there is the ability to communicate directly with ConciergeKey associates via a dedicated email address. ConciergeKeySM representatives will also monitor day of travel of ConciergeKey members and will proactively reroute or rebook travel when necessary. ConciergeKey status allows check-in at First Class counters, as well as access to elite lines through security at certain airports. Miles and copay upgrades with copay waived.

ConciergeKey is now a distinct elite tier, above Executive Platinum. ConciergeKey benefits include membership to the Admirals Club, international miles upgrades with copayment waived, as well as two additional System-Wide Upgrades (SWU's) as part of CK membership.

CK members have access to Flagship Check-in on any flight, and CK will have Flagship Lounge access when flying a OneWorld airline.

As of 1 Jan 2017, Concierge Key members have upgrade requests prioritized over all other tiers: CK members have an upgrade window of (up to) 120 hours (Executive Platinum member's will retain the 100 hour upgrade window). CK members will board ahead of other passengers.

Regarding Concierge Key tier benefits coming in 2017, please see: New Concierge Key Benefits for 2017: New CK Elite Status Tier

Please: do respect members' privacy by refraining from asking for overly personal information and details relating to ConciergeKey membership or nomination. If your question receives no response, consider the member chooses not to reply, as is his/her right.

Boarding Area's AAdvantageGeek's blog shows the card and documents here.

I have learned that does nothing - you have to be ticketed together to be as your true "companion" to be next on the list with you. I know that works for paid fares no matter what class - not sure on situation where one was purchased and one was on miles - not sure that you can even do that aside from maybe doing it over the phone with an agent.

This is incorrect.

My original post that you quoted remains accurate.

You may be unlinked between the original request and when it goes to the airport PALL list, but an airport agent can easily re-link you in that scenario.

He said he's not getting upgrades much either (less than 1/3rd of the time). I'm wondering if I'm flying on flights where most everyone is buying FC because it's not much more expensive. I'm definitely booking flights that have plenty of FC when I book (about 10-14 days out).
Also same happening to me. AA must be selling upgrades because first class on A321s is larger too. Just took mid week, mid day flight from CLT to LGA, and sat in middle of coach. Booked two weeks in advance too as CK. As travel starting to back pick up, I am beginning to wonder if chasing CK and flying is worth it anymore vs just spreading out for best times or using Zoom. I averaged 75K+ spend for years, but coming out of Covid, summer travel mess, and diminished service levels, there is very little to induce me to return to pre-pandemic travel. For example, today, the snack basket in first had nothing left by the time it got to me… and in pre Covid, this same route used to be a cheese plate prior to Covid. So for my first class, I got the same bag of pretzels as coach. Only great benefit left with CK is when travel gets disrupted - that is worth gold. Outside of that - AA has really diminished being elite.

Sorry yes - you are correct the gate agent can do it. I have had that done.

I'm surprised at your poor upgrade success as a CK. A few random comments...

There are a lot of FC purchases close-in to flight times. A lot of the demographic that buys J doesn't have travel plans firmed until very close-in to travel. Also, AA does release other upgrade inventory before complementary upgrade inventory, so that may be impacting you. Booking "two weeks in advance" has nothing to do with your upgrade prospects -- as long as you book prior to the CK upgrade window opening, the time of booking is irrelevant. If I were you, I'd wait to book until right before the upgrade window opens so you can see which flights will give you the best chance at an upgrade at that point in time.

Heathrow Connection

Does AA provide transfer assistance or car transfers to CK members at Heathrow? I have a 90 minute connection from T-3 (AA from LAX) to T-5 (BA to IST) coming up this week.

Great! Yes, everything is booked on a single itinerary and both flights have both AA and BA flight numbers. First flight is operated by AA, second by BA.

You will be good. You should confirm with CK desk ahead of time to be safe.

Ive had it twice, but both times only from AA to BA not BA (or IB) to AA. Are they not permitted to do transfers to T3 from T5? or was it just random?

Update from Istanbul. Im very impressed with AA. The first flight from LA was delayed and would have gotten in too late to make my connection, but by the time we landed I was already booked on a new Turkish Airlines flight and an escort drove me from T3 to T2 then walked me all the way to the new gate where he sorted out everything between TK and AA
