Upgrading to First on British Airways and U, Z (?) upgrade shared with award Fare Class Issues
Upgrading a paid Business (Club World) fare to First on British Airways puts the flight into fare class "Z" (?)a class that is ineligible for AAdvantage miles accrual (as reflected on the accrual chart) because it is also an award classification for a First Class award.
Upgrading a paid Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus) fare to Business puts it into U class (?), another award fare class that earns no AA miles.
Members have recently reported success at having their upgrades acknowledged as miles-earning, but it may prove challenging.
According to successful member BosTravel, you may have to contact ask for AAdvantage Customer Service, and explain you paid for Business, upgraded to F, or WTP to CW, and provide them with your original ticket number(s).

Pro-Active Online Upgrades (POUG)
A. What is a Pro-active Online Upgrade?
The simple answer: it is a limited special upgrade that may be offered at a time of BA's choosing after your booking is ticketed up to and including online check-in. The offer, if it happens (and this is not guaranteed) will appear in Manage My Booking, either via BA.com or the mobile app. There is no email notification, klaxon sound or flashing beacons to alert you - so now you know why its called a Pro-active Online Upgrade
Please note, POUG rates differ from the rates offered at the airport (see, Airport Upgrade (AUP) cost tracking thread) and also the rate offered when you click on the Upgrade my class of travel with money link from within MMB, or the Upgrade to the next available cabin blue/grey banner in the app.

Upgrading using Avios (UuA)
UuAs can only be applied to tickets issued on 125 stock. In other words tickets issued by BA or BA registered travel agents with ticket numbers beginning 125. Tickets sold by Iberia and American Airlines are issued on different numbered stock and cannot be upgraded using Avios.

My understanding is that AAV packages where the flight has the asterisk still posts by distance. We've certainly had some AAV flights post by distance since the change to LP. We've not done one in a bit, but I am assuming that this has not changed. The "added component" is the car or hotel which complicates extraction of the price for the flights.
Cheers.

Getting off topic but the I'm not talking about the change to LP, I'm taking about the change to AAV earlier this year. I believe that you earn 5 miles per dollar spent on the package (less with no status) and nothing else. Furthermore, all passengers must have AA accounts and the 5 miles/dollar are split evenly between all travelers. The terms mention that the flight will post as 0 and you will later get miles for the package price. It's a little confusing but I'm pretty sure that all AAV flights earn 0 no matter what.
Cheers.

How are UUA fares calculated for earning
Historically, if I purchased a BA premium economy fare then upgraded with Avios, I would earn AA miles and LPs. Asked on distance per the underlying Premium Economy fare class (usually T)
under the new model, Im clear my miles and LP earnings will be based on the purchased ticket base fare+carrier imposed fees.
but when upgrading using Avios, BA often charges the additional (difference) in Carrier imposed fees. Will these be included in the miles/LP calculation under the new revenue earn?

BA -> AA miles corect?
Sorry for this question as I'm sure I am just overlooking its answer somewhere.
I recently flew BA, no codeshare, and received miles dollar for dollar (~400). It was paid on the exec card and I am EP. Do we really not get a multiplier on the miles? Thank you!
Edit: sorry for the type in title.

Give AAdvantage Customer Service a call to fix it if you were in fact credited by fare since it's before Oct. 18.

Change to earning AA LPs on Intl Partners
I just noticed on AA.com that effective October 18, 2023, AA award miles earned on Iberia and BA marketed and operated flights will be calculated based on dollars spent instead of miles flown. Does anyone know if LPs will also be calculated based on spend rather than miles?? Does anyone know when this change was made?? Also, does anyone have any information regarding whether tickets purchased before this change was made will earn LPs based on dollars or miles flown?? thanks

This change was announced back in August, lots of discussion in the below thread.
For flights on BA/IB all that matters is the flight date, flights on or after Oct 18 will credit by fare, flights until Oct 17 will credit according to distance and fare code.

I think the big unknown is whether RTW (OneWorld Explorer) tickets will continue to earn on distance or not, since it seems BA is going to continue to credit in their own program based on distance for those tickets. But for all other 'normal' tickets, expect to be shafted on lower priced tickets, the only winners will be those who fly East Coast to LHR in mid to high priced C since those are short routes and distance earning wasn't great.

When did BA and Iberia become LP earning based on dollar spend?
Noticed in an email I got today that Iberia and BA are going to miles earned based on spend instead of distance? When was this announced or was that today?
Goes into effect for ALL flights starting October 18, hope no one was banking on otherwise...
(I'm at 125k LPs and really clueless at this point as to the cheapest way to get to 175-250k... I make 70k a year and do not have an AA credit card... Partner airlines were my best friend before LPs. RocketMiles had become my Go-To until this summer. Now what? Argh. )

Wasn't banking on it, but it does suck that they're going off of flight date rather than purchase date since I'm going to get a lot less LPs on an upcoming trip than I was expecting to when I booked it.
