Award booking while outside U.S.

I did a search but my skills are weak and I found nothing on this.

I need to book an award flight that is available but am currently in Thailand. I found a local number for AA but they are closed weekends. Is there a number to call to book awards that is an international number? Anyone help with this is appreciated.^

Can you not use Skype or something to call 1-800 numbers in the US?

^^Skype is the best for these situations as you can call USA800 numbers from anywhere. Also you still can get at the USA www.aa.com web site.

800 numbers are "international" numbers and can be called from anywhere although they aren't free to call from a landline or cell phone in another country. On Skype they are free.

Unfortunately not on the iPad or Chromebook we have. We will try an Internet cafe with my friends Skype account. Thanks for the suggestion.

It's a JAL flight so I can't book on the website. That would be too easy;).

You can also make calls from Hangouts, which you should have on your Chromebook, no?

The local number in a country may or may not be the better option for award travel. As noted calling via Skype to the US 800 number is an excellent option. I made a presentation while visiting Bangkok to a group in Houston via Skype on a laptop. At 2 cents per minute the call quality exceeded far and away the call quality of the $2 per minute cell phone call.

As previously stated, hangouts from the chromebook or Skype on an iPad too will call US 800 numbers for free.

On Skype for iPad sure you can. Just use the iPhone or competitor earpiece with microphone.

I use Skype on iPad all the time.

Booked!😀

Thank you all, we were able to Skype on the hotels computer and got the ticket booked. I appreciate the suggestions for this tech-illiterate person. ^
