Hellish flight but I Make Out Very Nicely
Flying FLT 1511 DFW/MIA this afternoon. Only one GA and long line of people trying to go standby so the gate area is hellish. Ten minutes after boarding time GA announces that two FAs are "lost." About 20 minutes later one FA shows up then one about five minutes after that. Then we go on a 45 minute mechanical delay. Finally ready to board and some guy is screaming because F was oversold and he can't sit with his wife. GA asks for one F pax to downgrade for a $500 voucher and since I am approaching the BP reader I take it. By now three gate supervisors have shown up to board the flight.
During boarding a pax in 7F gets into a tiff with a FA and the FA tells her to get off the a/c. Pax refuses and the gate supervisors come onboard. A pax comes back from F and gets into the fray saying that the FA was out of line (never did find out what the tiff was about). Now he is told to deplane. He refuses. GA supervisors threaten to call the police. F pax finally deplanes but the pax in 7F refuses to go until she is told by the Captain that he will have her arrested and taken off in handcuffs. Finally that pax gets up and one of the GAs supervisors (a really small women) literally grabs this pax and physically escorts her off the a/c.
Now we finally get underway and I get my free drink and BOB meal (probably better than what was served in F). We land and paxs going to South America just have enough time to make their connections. But wait were told our gate is occupied with a broken a/c. Plane starts to go nuts. Captain finally gets on PA and says folks I know you want off this plane and so do I but we can't go anywhere until they find another gate. About 10 minutes later we finally start to taxi to another gate.
Haven't seen anything like this in years.

Good tale. I was hoping that it would end with F pax gets thrown off, you get re-upgraded back into F AND you get to keep the $500 voucher!

Moral? Start your cell phone recording just before you wade into this. No need to hold it up, -- just hold by your side as if it's off. The audio should provide sufficient protection/rebuttal from an over-empowered FA who calls the cops.

Sounds more like it was the Gate Agents' supervisor who made the threat to call the cops.

If the OP wasn't in a position to hear what was said, how could the convo have been recorded?
