Indeed, however unfortunately there's only 1-2 three class aircraft on that route per day now. The rest of it is mostly all garbage 737s and A321S aircraft.

It would be nice to see MIA-LAX receive the same standardized product found on JFK-SFO/LAX.

There has never been more than 2 3-class flights.

Not sure what A321s you are flying on, but the ones I fly on are very nice.

A quick look at the schedule in December shows MIA-LAX has 5 wide body flights. Not "mostly garbage 737s."

Agree the 321T used out of JFK are very nice. The 321S used elsewhere in the domestic network is a piece of junk.

At what point in December are you seeing 5 wide bodies and is that sustained into the new year? All I see in general is one 777 and a pair of old 763s. The rest is all just standard domestic equipment.

I don't know what to tell you, calling the A321S junk is probably just bitterness from your hate for the new meals. It's not only the nicest domestic plane AA flies, but probably one of the nicest domestic planes any U.S. carrier flies period.

A quick look at LAX-MIA on December 18th shows every single non-redeye flight on a wide body, though I was wrong as I meant four, not five.

I'm not really sure what meals have to do with it, the same ones as served on A321, 737, S80, etc... The standard A321 has the already uncomfortable seats from the 737, but with less legroom, less recline, pleather so that I can enjoy stewing in my own sweat for however many hours I'm stuck on it, and I find them to be very noisy as well. IMO the new A321 and A319 aircraft are the worst rides in the domestic fleet behind the S80, 757, and 737. Not a chance I'll catch a moment of sleep on one. The only worse aircraft I've found in the fleet are the pmUS Airbuses which they've been able to extract even less legroom and seat comfort out of somehow, but I digress.

At any rate, I see the four widebodies on 12/18, however the following non red-eye flights still look to be narrowbody/standard domestic aircraft:

AA295 - A321S
AA139 - A321S
AA287 - 757 (domestic configuration)

Immediately after the holiday schedule going into the new year though, MIA-LAX goes right back to 3 widebody aircraft and a majority of standard domestic equipment. It's unfortunate that this premium transcon route cannot be standardized into all premium equipment as has been done ex-JFK.

I don't think we need to be rocket surgeons to figure out that AA has crunched the numbers and decided that there isn't enough premium traffic between LAX and MIA to justify it.

Furthermore, the real premium connecting long haul traffic is isolated to certain times of day (for the most part, evening departures from MIA to South America and arrivals back into MIA in the early morning).

The Feb schedules show the 777 on the 9 AM with a different flight number. Will they do a schedule/flight change I wonder?

Why is AA blocking so many first class / business class seats for sale on those 77W aircrafts on LAX-MIA route?

I tried the December dates, but most of them are "not available", and even for the few that are available, they're mostly the more expensive refundable fare.

many of the "not available" 77w flights have a plenty of F/J seats open according to seat map.

Does AA not want to sell F/J seats or what?

AA.com glitch. Just one of many.

So if I want to check the price, I'd have to call? That would be pretty inconvenient for me and for the agents since I have a few dates to check.

For now that seems to be the only way. AA.com seems to only want to sell F and Y on this flight, seemingly mistaking it for domestic equipment. Pretty sure this is the first regularly scheduled domestic 77W flight so the system may not have been caught up to speed yet, though I'm not sure what the holdup is.

See posts 37, 38 and others above.... It has been regular AA practice to only sell F and Y on three cabin domestic flights other than JFK-LAX/SFO, and allow elites on economy fares to assign J seats, with Y service in that cabin.

But if AA.com is not displaying proper pricing info for Y and F seats, then yes that is a recent development.

Three cabin aircraft (777s) on MIA-LAX are always sold as such (F/J/Y). I would expect the 77W would be the same, the website just is not recognizing it as such. An 8 seat F cabin for MIA-LAX would be extremely inadequate if just sold as F/Y.

I'll call AA in my spare time today and see if the AAgents know anything different.
