It would be nice to see MIA-LAX receive the same standardized product found on JFK-SFO/LAX.

Not sure what A321s you are flying on, but the ones I fly on are very nice.
A quick look at the schedule in December shows MIA-LAX has 5 wide body flights. Not "mostly garbage 737s."

At what point in December are you seeing 5 wide bodies and is that sustained into the new year? All I see in general is one 777 and a pair of old 763s. The rest is all just standard domestic equipment.

Agree the 321T used out of JFK are very nice. The 321S used elsewhere in the domestic network is a piece of junk.

A quick look at LAX-MIA on December 18th shows every single non-redeye flight on a wide body, though I was wrong as I meant four, not five.

I don't know what to tell you, calling the A321S junk is probably just bitterness from your hate for the new meals. It's not only the nicest domestic plane AA flies, but probably one of the nicest domestic planes any U.S. carrier flies period.

At any rate, I see the four widebodies on 12/18, however the following non red-eye flights still look to be narrowbody/standard domestic aircraft:
AA295 - A321S
AA139 - A321S
AA287 - 757 (domestic configuration)
Immediately after the holiday schedule going into the new year though, MIA-LAX goes right back to 3 widebody aircraft and a majority of standard domestic equipment. It's unfortunate that this premium transcon route cannot be standardized into all premium equipment as has been done ex-JFK.

Furthermore, the real premium connecting long haul traffic is isolated to certain times of day (for the most part, evening departures from MIA to South America and arrivals back into MIA in the early morning).

Why is AA blocking so many first class / business class seats for sale on those 77W aircrafts on LAX-MIA route?
I tried the December dates, but most of them are "not available", and even for the few that are available, they're mostly the more expensive refundable fare.
many of the "not available" 77w flights have a plenty of F/J seats open according to seat map.
Does AA not want to sell F/J seats or what?

For now that seems to be the only way. AA.com seems to only want to sell F and Y on this flight, seemingly mistaking it for domestic equipment. Pretty sure this is the first regularly scheduled domestic 77W flight so the system may not have been caught up to speed yet, though I'm not sure what the holdup is.

See posts 37, 38 and others above.... It has been regular AA practice to only sell F and Y on three cabin domestic flights other than JFK-LAX/SFO, and allow elites on economy fares to assign J seats, with Y service in that cabin.
But if AA.com is not displaying proper pricing info for Y and F seats, then yes that is a recent development.

I'll call AA in my spare time today and see if the AAgents know anything different.
