Well the 77W was back on in March 2020 after being off in Feb, only to turn into a 767 (!) in April

Anyone see an announcement of changes on MIA-LAX?

Anyone else notice it looks like AA has pulled its 777's off of the MIA-LAX route? Also, they've eliminated some flights (i.e. the 4 p.m. LAX-MIA which was the latest non-red-eye - now latest is 1:05 p.m..)

I see the 777 for the MIA-LAX route in May.

No idea about the first question but regarding your second point, it was that way earlier this fall and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the lack of frames due the MAX grounding.

The current AA has made it clear that MIA-LAX is no longer a priority for them. The product is now the same trAAsh found on every other domestic flight. Best to take the train 30 minutes north and hop on Mint to California.
jAAck and miket like this.

And yet every flight I've taken seemed full, most especially 777s.

I agree. It’s always packed in J. Even back when it was 3 cabin 777s and J equipped two cabin 767s/757s on many flights of the day these flights always had a high premium for J/F.

I was on AA 813 MIA to LAX on 2/6 at 8:45 and it was a 777. Doing the return on an A321...unfortunately not a "T". I've been flying this route regularly for several months, almost always on 777.

I guess because it’s full they can downgrade the service on all the 321s. Clueless management, ripping out TVs , downgrading service

So I'm booked onto the two-class 777-200 from MIA-LAX in July this year. It's the 17:55 departure (AA314). Appears to be 'First' with flat beds (like international business), then economy behind.
I hear that AA will introduce a 777-300 from June, but think that's for the morning flight. Would it be that AA will run a 200 and 300 daily?
Hopeful of no equipment change, as don't fancy an upright 6hrs.
Perhaps someone more familiar with AA's practice could share some thoughts and likelihoods?
Thanks!

I don't see a 77W on the route on the few days in June I checked. What day are you seeing a 77W?

Several years ago, when they first introduced the 772 on the route, they had to widebodies. That's been ages ago and I don't even dream about it anymore. Lucky to have one widebody, that isn't a sure thing anymore.

And I would monitor your flights, I've lost the 772 due to schedule changes, was able to switch it back but since I have favorite seats, I want to act quickly if it does. Expertflyer will notify you quicker than American.

Looks as though the 777 is removed entirely from MIA-LAX (I'm seeing 1x 767 and 3x A321 services in July). Boo.
Anyone have any more info?

Not directly relevant, but I'm still on a 772 MIA-LAX in late August

Trying to book MIA-LAX in December on either the 77W (preferred) or 772.

Looking at the November schedule, there's a 77W departing at 3:30 pm, which would be a convenient time, but the December schedule has only 321s on the schedule leaving around this time.

Assuming the December schedule isn't completely firmed up yet, any thoughts from the experts on if AA will extend 77W (or 772) service departing mid-afternoon?

Correct, December isn't going to be accurate yet. I would expect it to stay as we get into December which is an even busier time for these markets than November is. Not sure whether it will be that same time or not though. I'm on that flight next week and it's pretty empty so far.
