Personally I'd do 31 because you can recline guilt free and also have the storage space to the right of the window & some space behind your seat (think there's an O2 bottle or some medical equipment behind it.
If you are in the seat by the window (31A or 31L), can you walk behind the row to get out? So you don't have to crawl over the person next to you? And I am assuming the 2 sides are essentially the same? No advantage to A over L? Thanks for all your help!

No you absolutely cannot walk behind the seats.

A&L only matter from the perspective of whether you're going eastbound or westbound and care about the sun shining in/heating up the side you're on in each case.

They're regular economy 31" pitch seats in a pair, I wouldn't overthink it tbh.

Good point! Which is the best side flying to Europe from USA, and then back from Europe to USA if you don't want the sun on your side? Thanks!

In the northern hemisphere, the sun shines from the south. When the plane flies to the east, south is on the right side. Westbound, south is to the left.

Have a trip in June on the 788, row 10 JKL showing as blocked to a OWE and OWS [BA]. 10 ABC taken though. Any idea when these would open up? Are they available to AA elites [I thought AA was egalitarian on MCE seats].
