Us airways upgrades
 

Hi.
Just booked an award ticket economy from RSW - LHR return using my miles. 40K miles to be exact.
All flights are US AIRWAYS operated although booked on the AA website.
Anyway my question is:

I want to now try and see if I can upgrade to Envoy on both of the long flights. How many miles do I need now for each upgrade? It used to be 30,000 miles and $300 each way or $900 approx cash if I waited until 24 hrs out. When I go on the AA site it appears its only 25,000 miles now. Is there a fee was well as the miles? What are these 500 mile upgrade - I appear to have 12 of those. can I use them and how the heck do I do it.
Apologies for being a bit dumb, but I fear change - lol.
Also can I still use the US Airways Platinum phone line? Because when i try and call it now it appears you just get diverted back to the normal line - is there are Advantage number for platinum that I should call instead? If so can someone message me with it?

No upgrades on award travel. If you want to fly in envoy, then you need to book a business/first award.

This is for paid tickets, not award tickets booked with miles. If you want to fly in Envoy using miles, you'll need to book a full J award. Some special dividends members used to be able to upgrade on award tickets but that went away with the ffp merging.
