American Airlines | AAdvantage Forum User Notes:
Just as a reminder: Different Flyertalk fora, though moderated within the Flyertalk Rules, have slightly different "cultures". At one time, this forum was renown as unfriendly, unwelcoming and snarky. That has been remedied, and the few that decided to unleash some angst about the recent AA - US merger against other FlyerTalkers have been reminded we have a low tolerance for interpersonal conflict and disruption to this forum.
For example: While you may have seen the word apologist somewhere on FT (or the variant "AApologist" in this forum), the use of the word and the level of attack on other posters has particularly troublesome in the AA forum; hence when the term is used to be derisive or is an attempt to dismiss or denigrate other posters, we do feel it is inappropriate and outside the FT rules.
Topics that are strictly regulated because they have turned off topic and unfriendly, resulting in tightly limited and moderated threads, include:
AA policies about military members. The policies are what they are and being pro- or con-military isn't going to change AA policy in this issue, nor does it affect how we fly, earn or burn on AA.
AA policies about service, assistance and support animals and pets. These are discussed only as specific to AA, as the Federal Air Carrier Access act and other laws govern these issues and U.S. based airlines' policies must comply with Federal policies - general discussion is not topical to AA.
Thank you for helping to keep our forum welcoming, informative and positive in its framing.

Historical Notes:
America West Airlines organized in February 1981 and began operations August 1, 1983. The airline grew rapidly, included flights to Hawaii and Japan and operated aircraft as large as the Boeing 747-200 (4 leased in from KLM). It's first bankruptcy filing was in 1991, and after reorganization on 1994, hired W. Douglas Parker in June 1995 as Senior Vice President and CFO. IN 2001, he was elected Chairman, President and CEO in September 2001
US Airways' origin was in 1939 as All American Aviation, which changed its name in 1939 to All American Airways and again in 1949 to Allegheny Airlines. In 1979, with the passing of the Airline Deregulation Act and Allegheny Airlines became US Air. Allegheny took Lake Central Airlines in 1968 and Mohawk Airlines in 1972.
US further acquired Piedmont Airlines and Pacific Southwest Airlines in 1989, established the US Airways Shuttle after buying the remains of Trump Shuttle and was taken over by America West Airlines in a reverse takeover merger in 2005; the airline, under the direction of HP CEO Doug Parker and his team, rebranded as US Airways.
The new US Airways acquired American Airlines in a reverse takeover in 2013, rebranding as American Airlines. The Federal Aviation Administration granted a single operating certificate (SOC) for US Airways and American Airlines on April 8, 2015.
American Airlines began when when Robertson Aircraft Corporation and Colonial Air Transport merged in 1929 into holding company The Aviation Corporation. In 1930 this became an operating company branded American Airways. In 1934 it was renamed American Airlines. After filing bankruptcy in 2011, it was taken over by US Airways in 2013, which chose to continue with the American Airlines brand. The Parker leadership team continues to administer the new American Airlines.
American Airlines included AirCal, American Inter-Island Airlines, American Overseas Airways, Colonial Air Transport, Reno Air, Robertson Aircraft Corporation, Trans Caribbean Airways, Trans World Airlines.
US Airways included Allegheny Airlines, America West Airlines, Empire Airlines, Lake Central Airlines, MetroJet, Mohawk Airlines, Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA), Piedmont Airlines, Trump Shuttle and USAir.

Forum and Dashboard Evolution:
The US brand has gone, and we continue as American Airlines, albeit with a US Airways (and previously America West) management cadre.
We deliberately transitioned to the new American Airlines | AAdvantage (Combined Airline and Programs) Forum as of October 17, 2015, when the Computer Reservations (CRS) and Passenger Services (PSS) Systems merged (HP Shares (with the Qik interface) data moved into Saber (with a Qik interface). This wrought "One system. One code.", meaning all flights are now solely coded AA and the US Airways brand ceased to exist.
1 Jan 2016 brought about changes to how we earn AAdvantage status, and new miles award redemption. rates and charts take effect soon after. A new revenue-based redeemable miles (RDM) earning scheme was implemented some time in the latter half of 2016. There's more on our plates, but we're asking for your patience - this continues to be a major undertaking because it's about a new but seemingly ever-changing largest airline, and it takes time. We're like you, travelling, working, living, etc. We're also inviting you to add to the wikis so they are up to date and helpful to our legacy shareholders as well as to our newer members.
We'll continue to strive to add more pieces to the puzzle in this thread, so it has gone from being a Lounge Dashboard to a thread that includes the Lounge and other Dashboards, as well as a Wikipost, etc. The Lounge Dashboard is now under revision, leading to the Dashboard Mark II and occasional tinkering and tune up, and both AA Airport Hub and AA Aircraft Dashboards will be added.
For the Dashboards, FlyerTalk Moderators Prospero and JDiver have experimented and collaborated to bring you a graphics and word based forum, and trying out a "Dashboard" approach to the new forum for AA and US frequent flyers. It's been an interesting collaborative scheme, and we hope you'll share your feedback with us, and please join me in expressing appreciation for Prosperos time and effort to bring this project to you.
Now that the airlines have merged into “the new American Airlines”, we are working to bring you a new, revised Lounge Dashboard, a Hub Airport Dashboard and an Aircraft Dashboard.
Please add your Dashboard and GUIDE updates and feedback; use the widget below to jump to the Feedback thread.

Guide to searching for information on FlyerTalk
Searching for information on FlyerTalk
FlyerTalk Advanced Search can seem quirky to the infrequent user, but it's fairly powerful if one knows how to use it.
Some resources for searching FlyerTalk:
Canarsie's Using the Search Feature on FlyerTalk: The Definitive Thread has relocated to the Information Desk Forum; it can be found there.
One can search FlyerTalk with Google with this web form.
Or, if you are used to Google search, go to Google and preface your search terms with site:www.flyertalk.com in the box on the main page, along with your search terms.
Or, use Google Advanced Search and insert www.flyertalk.com in the site or domain: box.
Other options using Google from FT Moderator essxjay:
"If I only need search results from FT I make it explicit e.g., site:flyertalk.com "Amanwana", which returns just 671 results rather than tens of thousands.
And since you know which forum to look in you could refine the above even further to search just the luxury hotels/travel forum. Thusly, site:flyertalk.com inurl:luxury-hotels intext:Amanwana. That returns 629 hits.
Here's a nifty 10 minute overview of advanced search operators if you're so inclined."
