American Airlines' first Boeing 787 / 787-8 "Dreamliner" delivered at DFW Jan 2015
discussion, current and future deliveries, 1st delivery video link

American Airlines has ordered 16 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Deliveries were delayed by aircraft design and assembly issues, but began to be delivered in 2015. 16 788s are on order (plus 26 787-9s and options for more). Seating configuration is 28 Business Class, 48 Main Cabin Extra and 150 Main Cabin. Typical range would be JFK and HKG or JNB.

With a typical capacity of 242 passengers and a range of 7,355 nautical miles (13,621 km), the -8 is the base model of the 787 family and was the first to enter service in 2011.[257] With a length of 186 feet (57 m) and a wingspan of 197 feet (60 m), it is the third Boeing widebody after the 747SP and the 777-200LR wider than its length. The 787-8 is targeted to replace the Boeing 767-200ER and -300ER, as well as expand into new non-stop markets where larger planes would not be economically viable. Link to full Wikipedia article

I posted this in the inaugural flight thread but I can repost it here for you.

I was in Charleston yesterday visiting some family and I noticed on my arrival into CHS 5 new 787's on the tarmac outside the Boeing facility. (UA,AC,AA,HU,AI) I had my brother drive me around the plant so I could take some pictures. (yes, Boeing security chased me down and requested I delete all my photos, obviously I did not comply)

On our way from lunch I look up from the car and lo and behold, there's the AA 787 coming back from it's test flight (pic 4).

I hope you enjoy the pics, like I said I had to work fast due to security so I apologize for the quality and or angles/lighting.

I don't believe this is correct. It is true that Airlines from Cat 2 countries can't add frequencies to the US, however, US airlines can still add flights/start new services to Cat 2 countries.

The 1'st AA 788 flew DFW-STL and is now on it's way to PHX. For the past week it has been doing only Texas flights, today is the first I have seen it go out of state.

American Airlines #9766 (B788) has just filed a flight plan. It is scheduled to depart from Dallas/Fort Worth Intl (KDFW) at 14:00 CST Monday heading for Lambert-St Louis Intl (KSTL) for an estimated arrival at 15:25 CST.

FYI, JonNYC has never claimed that he works for AA. But those of us who have been around the AA forum for a long time know that his information is generally top-quality. That's not to say that it's never wrong, but the overwhelming majority of his information is solid and has helped a lot of us here.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming ...
