AA Post-merger Heritage / Retro / Vintage Livery / Color Scheme Paint (consolidated)

With the merger now behind us, the New American is expected to have more aircraft in vintage liveries painted in the coming months. There are quite a few airlines to represent so this thread has been started in the Consolidated forum for discussion of these liveries, sightings, and speculation.

American beginning heritage livery program

Apparently, as part of the merger, AA have decided to "continue this USAir tradition" by launching an aircraft with an America West livery on the tail and engines:

Wonder what others they'll have!

This livery should be on all planes with the "lite bite" meal service in F, keeping passenger expectations realistic.

I don't think this is a repaint. But rather the "US Airways" title marking and logo was replaced with one that says "American" and the eagle logo. US was operating 2 HP heritage planes. The other one has the light blue pin-stripes on the fuselage. However, they did announce that there will be each an Air Cal, TWA, and Reno Air heritage plane added, as well as the current US Airways livery being kept on one of the planes.

I'd love to see the Mohawk logo on one of AA's jets. Perhaps AA could even dub the plane "City of Ithaca," in recognition of Mohawk's birthplace.

That's actually a US airplane with AMERICAN recently painted on the side. Still says operates by USAirways by the front door. I just worked on it a couple days ago.

Heritage liveries is one thing US did really well, and is probably one of the few nice things resulting from the merger.

Agree with WheelsFirst

First Class passengers should have low expectations on the NEW American. They will not be disappointed.

An American West livery will be a fitting reminder to the outstanding previous merger managed by Doug Parker.
