Did you try calling AA and seeing what they say?

I'm guessing not. The fee is waived for AA elites based on the account the award is issued from. And there's no way to have US status reflected yet on an AA account.

If you find out otherwise, let us know.

In my experience, EXP agents always have some leeway when it comes to award fees. It never hurts to ask. Let us know how it turns out.

IMO, as Dividend Miles and AAdvantage are still two separate programs until Q2 next year, then I would say:

If you are using your AA Miles from your AAdvantage account, then no.
If you are using your US Miles from your Dividend account, I would say yes, but then this booking will need to go through US, not AA.
