Added AA1258 to the Wiki. DFW-ORD, 788

Interesting that it's one-way (no ORD-DFW 787 flight). I'll try to figure out the equipment rotation.

Many days have an ORD-DFW 787. Check a few different days, and check early morning.

It seems that there are 788 flights between SFO and DFW in October (2018) - I haven't had chance to explore the timescale of this change, but it seems to be there for the 11.50am departure in mid-October at least.

Yep, I see those over Labor Day weekend as well. Around that time too the 763 is back on one daily MIA-SFO-MIA rotation: the 8am ex-MIA and the noon ex-SFO.

Flt #1219 DFW>MIA

Using award to fly MEX>RDU on 8/7/18 Noticed we could fly this flight on a 777-200/200ER with lieflats. Decided thatís more fun than a long layover in the lounge at DFW so booked it. Hopefully they wonít have an equipment change!

After doing MEX to DFW, are you flying DFW to RDU via MIA instead of nonstop DFW-RDU? Just to fly a 777? That seems like HOURS of wasted time, adding an unnecessary 3rd leg going 900 miles out of your way, and having to deal with MIA. 😲
Lie flats are nice, but yikes I don't think they're nice enough I'd do THAT! Enjoy

Anybody see additional widebodies scheduled for hub-to-hub flights for the holiday season? Last weekend AA cut back on their scheduled widebody flights ex-ORD and PHL over the holiday season so I would expect to see them popping up on domestic routes soon.

Due to the timing, it was either that or hang out in the lounge for an equal amount of time. Both the DFW>RDU and the MIA>RDU flights for which we could get saaver awards arrive within minutes of each other. And we haven't flown AA's lie flats, always have used awards on partners before.

Well, if it was the 77W I'd be more interested, but of course YMMV. Depending on which J products you've flown with partners, you could find the 772 lie flats anywhere from excellent to meh (my $0.02 re hard product: QSuite>>AA 77W J>AA772 non-Zodiac>CX J>QR "regular" J>AA 772 Zodiac/AA788/9>BA Club World). Also, you'll get the domestic soft product, so that's sort of a downer. TBH I'd be more concerned about adding the potential for a delay/misconnect by adding another leg (and going through MIA) than hanging out in DFW. But of course YMMV.

Looks like AA is shuttling a 787-8 from SFO to ORD in November. Not sure about the dates itís operating, but my thanksgiving flights were moved from a 738 to a 788

Yup AA 345 will be a 787 until 12/2 to SFO and 12/3 to ORD, just noticed that today.

Sometimes we win on schedule changes, sometimes we lose. You were handed a nice change, as was I (A321T JFK-BOS next month in F - very nice for a short hop).

IIRC AA said because of higher fuel prices they would be cutting down on widebody utilization on domestic routes during the day instead parking a/c. It might be goodbye to my favorite 772 MIA/DFW flights.

I think widebodies make sense on mediumish-haul flights if you can fill those seats, even for AA. The 772s can hit 80+ mpg/seat on those +1750nm flights and the 788s can hit 100mpg. There's a case to be made for AA to reduce flights during the off season and keep those retrofitted wide bodies in the air so they can refresh the 737s to cattle car status just in time for the spring.
