I'm flying PHL-MCO next Wednesday. I was checking my reservation today and I found the aircraft has changed from an A-321 to an A-330-200

Can anyone confirm if the holiday schedule has been loaded?
I was searching flights and noticed November/December with up to twice daily 788 service between ORD - PHX and also some 789 service between ORD - LAX.

I'm a fairly regular AA flyer to MCO (though less lately with the reduction in non-stop service to NYC) and over Veterans Day weekend I've noticed there are two A330s flying CLT-MCO late on Sunday, both returning to CLT early on Monday morning.
A bit of a boon for me as I always like getting longhaul seating on domestic flights but a little curious as to why AA are doing this? Just utilizing the aircraft when they've nothing better to do at CLT or some other reason?

No different then AA's other widebody domestic use of the fleet, keep them in the air making money between long hauls rather than sitting on the ground taking up space. Makes for very cool opportunities!

Indeed, am aware of the use of longhaul aircraft on domestic routes and do sometimes peruse the AA Cargo PDF file for interesting widebody usage. However, I wasn't sure if there was a specific reason why two A330s were operating to MCO the same evening, perhaps some sporting event or something taking place that week.

That is a good point, since they are sitting overnight, perhaps there is some kind of special event in MCO AA expects to direct extra traffic from, like when they fly widebodies into LAS for CES. Or does AA do any maintenance in MCO the planes might be going there for?

Well there you go. I see they are also flying a 332 and 752 from PHL-MCO the same weekend, makes sense for the South and West NJ flyers.

I saw someone on a different thread talk about an Airbus 332 flying PHL-LAS. I was unaware of any widebody flying this route. I fly PHL-LAS often and never saw an A332 on this route.

Yes, it has been operating once daily on that route (dinner flight out and redeye back) since early January 2020, and will be discontinued in favor of the A321 in early March 2020. Last year, PHL-LAS operated the 767-300 once daily for a period of time as well (after the seasonal European routes rolled off).
