There will be two meals - one is breakfast - which usually consists of a traditional breakfast option and some brunch/lunch options; then there is a second meal service which is usually a choice of salad, flatbread, or some such thing. Approx. 30 days before departure you'll be able to go online and choose your entree (for the 1st meal - not the second one) and that will give you a better idea what to expect.

There's a fairly hearty breakfast after takeoff (really, it's more like a brunch and there's usually one protein option) and then an evening meal before landing. The second meal is far more substantial than the second meal (snack) that's featured on the westbound transatlantic flights. In addition to the entrée it's also served with hot nuts and an ice cream dessert. In my opinion, you will not go hungry if flying AA90 in business class.

Excellent service on this beautiful 77W. Owing to very strong tailwinds resulting in groundspeeds as high as 800mph, flight time was just over 13hrs and we landed more than 90 minutes early!
forgettable chicken starter:
Not sure why I keep getting foil ramekins on my plate, but the steak was perfectly cooked:
The caramel sauce was different than I've previously had on AA. Very dark and delicious:
Sunset near Japan:
Chilled duck and noodles:
Hong Kong cooked dim sum while flying over Texas!

Those foil cups look thoroughly ghetto.
Those meals look considerably more decent than what's being served on TATLs these days though.

Yes - besides the foil ramekins I was very satisfied with the catering on both flights. I was pleasantly surprised that DFW-ICN featured main meal entrée options (only 4 showed up for the online pre-order) and that both flights had a mid-flight snack that was more substantial than a cup of noodles.

As for pre-ordering, it has always been limited to the main meal service at the start of the flight.

I have, but I rarely get to fly AA on transpacific routes. My comments were more directed towards UA and DL - who only offer a much more limited mid-fight snack. Typically just a cup of noodles or shrink-wrapped sandwiches on UA, or a cold deli plate on DL.
Yes - I know that. As stated above, not all of the main meal service's entrees appeared on the online pre-order menu.

Can anyone advise the typical meals found on
AA57 LHR - MIA
and
AA56 MIA - LHR
In Economy for both the meals?
Trying to work out if I need to bring some sandwiches with me for the flight.

AA's Y catering is pretty terrible. Definitely a solid idea to BYO.

The second meal service will be smaller: on the eastbound, OJ/coffee and maybe a bad croissant. On the westbound, something resembling a flatbread is likely.

As others has stated meals are nothing fancy in Y. However on the eastbound, as an arrival snack we now serve a "Good Morning Breakfast Treats" box, that contains a Muffin Top (that's all we used to serve on LUS), NatureBox Dried Fruit Pack, Emerald Breakfast on the Go Pack and a Yogurt. I don't have any pictures I took, so I'll link to someone else's:

EDIT: On the main meal tray (that you get after takeoff) we now serve cheese and crackers as well.

Thanks for all the replies, it looks like stocking up on sandwiches in LHR on the outbound and as for the inbound a big meal in MIA airport and then breakfast between connections at LHR.
I didn't have my hopes up for the catering in Y
