LAA 75L / 757-200 Best MCE / Main Cabin Extra seats (consolidated)

This thread covers all seating strategy questions relating to MCE-equipped 752s. All remaining LAA 757s have been configured with B/E pot style seats in domestic F / International Business, MCE in rows 10 -16 (no row 11) <link>.

Row 9 has two seat pairs with considerable legroom, somewhat distant from the Emergency exit. These seats are somewhat narrower due to having seat trays that fold into armrest spaces.

Row 10 offers greater legroom in A and F Seats due to the absence of 9A and F, but 10BC and DE are standard seat pitch with no extra room, as well as narrower because of armrest seat trays.

The general thread discussing domestic F / International Business can be found [U]here[/B].

The thread discussing the Legacy US Airways “East” 757-200s reconfigured to 12F/176Y can be read here.

LAA 75L / 757-200 Best MCE / Main Cabin Extra seats (consolidated)

I just flew in an MCE converted 757 from TUL-DFW.

My seat 10C (Aisle) was nice. There were less F seats according to the check in agents so our plane was oversold by 2. They were offering $200 vouchers to switch.

Anyway, here's a pic

As far as a comparison to E+ from UA, it seems similar. F seemed like a MASSIVE upgrade over the old yellow 757 seating. AVOD with comfy POD seats

Fewer F seats + your description of the seats seems to indicate that you were on not just an MCE 757, but an international configuration 757 that just had MCE added to it. It's the international 757s that have the next gen business class first class seats - and due to the size of those seats, tehre are fewer of them than in a domestic configuration 757

It could also just be a 22F subbed for a scheduled 24F.

But a 24F new configuration domestic 757 substituted in for a 22F old configuration domestic 757 wouldnt' have "AVOD with POD seats" in F - i'm interpreting that to mean video screens and NGBC seats in first. The international 757s have that up front, but the new configuration 24F domestic 757s have the same sliding seat bottom/laptop computer slot F seats as the new 737s.

Oh, I missed the part about the AVOD, so yeah that would have to be NGBC.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure it was an internationally reconfigured plane with MCE. They showed a flight map on the screen much like you would see on long flights in the US (DFW-ANC or DFW-HNL or DFW-OGG). I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up on routes out of MIA.

Still it makes me wonder if these planes are being redone in TUL given the frequency of the redone planes coming out of TUL to DFW. We have a daily 757 at 10:50 that usually connects to MIA.

An earlier question that remains unanswered for the 757: Before the MCE reconfiguration rows 13 and 14 were "missing window" rows with noisy A/C riser ducts in the cabin sidewall. Does anyone know which rows are affected after the reconfig?

I recently achieved PLT via a Challenge and moved up to 15F which seems OK. 13F is available, but seems risky.

FYI, I'm on AA297 LAX-HNL. The return is AA162, a 763. I've moved to 11J

Going to be on a 757 next week with MCE. Only middle seats are open. Can anyone comment on a middle seat in row 10, an emergency exit row seat, or next row back, row 12 middle seat? Which seems better? Does row 10 have a bit more room than 12 or the same? Does row 10 have arm rests that are fixed?

Thanks

Best seat in couch on 757 with MCE

I have two upcoming trips on 757s that have MCE showing and I am wondering if the previously generally accepted rule of thumb for preferring row 9 and then 10 a/f still holds true now that there are so many more seats with extra space?

9D has more legroom than any other seat on the aircraft, in ANY class of service. (assuming we are talking about the 752/75W)

9C is pretty close, though a lot more traffic given the lav door

9B/9E are okay

10A/10F are great, plus your own private way to reach the aisle. But legs can get very cold.

10B/C/D/E - avoid

Rows 12-16 are going to be pretty good now with MCE, and 17/18 continue to be excellent (except 16A/16F and 17A/17F since they have no recline)

Disagree that 10B/C and 10D/E should be avoided. With 757 MCE they have the extra legroom of other MCE seats, movable arm rests, seat back tray tables, so all and all a regular seat nice and close to the front of the plane.

Thanks, in 10E now. Only other options are middle seats as well, but a bit futher back in MCE.

Best MCE / Main Cabin Extra seats on the 752 / 757-200 (consolidated)

Do the Exit Rows 17/18 on a 757 still have more legroom than the MCE rows (12-16)??
