I'm addicted to the F upgrades on LAX-LHR.

As for the name for new J, BA and CX have gone through a few generations, and I think each one has been called "new business class," usually in a transition: it's "new new business class" (or "new new J") at first, then just "new business class" (or "new J") for a few years or until the next upgrade, whichever comes first.

How are you flying an AA 777-300 from Southeast Asia to the U.S.?

probably a CX or BA flight to London first, unless AA decides to do a direct between US & HKG or something

Any word on applying SWUs to the 77W flights? I'm booked on a 77W fligth late Feb and have not yet called EXP desk to ask for SWU on the flights, just noticed they've been C0 for a while now.

You should still call. There is hidden upgrade inventory specifically for EXP's. Often times ExpertFlyer has shown C0 and when I call, there's availability.

Yeah, it was more concern about the 77W than about waitlisting. That said, I just called tonight and go on the waitlist for my flights. Also setup an EF alert so hopefully it'll come through on the new 77W.

Seems like a good use of the big bird (though a new route would be even better!)

Happy Travels.
FYI AA posted a press release yesterday on this:

American Airlines Announces Los Angeles as New Market for Boeing 777-300ER
Beginning Next Summer, Customers Traveling Between Los Angeles and London Can Experience World-Class Travel on Newest Addition to American's Fleet

I read the press release and then went on www.AA.com/Fly777

I had not noticed the new renderings with the business class seat in the flat position.
(the old photo everybody knows did not show the seat in flat position)

Looks kind of strange at the bottom end with no support (unlike the BAs CW seat or others that meet a foot rest on the other end). The padding looks very thin too. I know, I know... it's just a rendering...

AA Announces Initial Boeing 777-300ER / "77W" Schedule (as of 13 Dec 2012)

I wish AA would put one of these new aircraft between NRT-DFW so after I connect on my SQ flight from SIN I can have a semi-decent experience

Doh!! Of course AA issued the PR yesterday, because it was on July 5, 2012 that you could first book the June 1, 2013 inaugural flight.

(It's cool to see the 77W seat charts for the flights on June 1st and June 2nd).

There's nothing cool about any B777 seat chart that shows 10 across seating!
