Complimentary Drink and Snack in AA Main Cabin for Executive Platinum, oneworld Emerald and Concierge Key
AAdvantage Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey® members can enjoy a complimentary* beverage and one snack flying in Main Cabin (or MCE) on American Airlines or American Eagle. Undocumented, but in the Flight Attendant manual, it seems to include all oneworld Emerald members; see below.
Internal AA documentation specifies (shown in reverse status order):
Language (Dec 2014) from the AA website:
HAVE A SNACK AND DRINK ON US
Refresh and Relax
AAdvantage® Executive Platinum and ConciergeKeySM members can enjoy a complimentary* beverage from our standard alcoholic selections as well as one of our snacks, where available, when flying in the Main Cabin on board American Airlines, American Eagle®, US Airways, and US Airways Express. The snack on American includes any food item on our menu. The snack on US Airways includes any item from our ŕ la carte menu.
Here's What You Do
At the time of your order, just present your AAdvantage Executive Platinum member card or boarding pass, or your ConciergeKey membership card. It's that simple!
What's on the Menu
We continue to revitalize our menu items to deliver an array of fresh and convenient sweet and savory snacks and meals on board our flights. This includes items* such as a chicken Caesar salad or one of our premium sandwiches – both served with chips. You can also treat yourself with hand crafted cookies, a fruit and cheese plate, or a gourmet blend of spiced nuts – which can be perfectly paired with a domestic or imported ice cold beer, a red or white wine from select California and international wineries, or an alcoholic beverage of your choice.
*Eligible customers may select any snack available on board any flight where food is available and one liquor miniature, beer or 187ml bottle of wine on a complimentary basis. Items may vary.

from post #357 by flight62, 4 Oct 2015:
Beginning October 17 (2015), Executive Platinum and Concierge Key customers (EP/KEY) traveling in the Main Cabin on former LUS metal may select any complimentary food item from the MarketPlace menu, including snack boxes and fresh food offerings on applicable flights.
The recognition benefit will then be fully aligned on both carriers to include: Ŕ la carte snacks, snack boxes, fresh meals, beer, spirits and non-premium wine.
Enhancements will be introduced to the MyFlight application on your tablet in early November which will allow you to identify customer frequent flier status. Until then, reference final paperwork per current procedures. It is important that you continue to use the “EP/KEY” complimentary reason code to record these transactions. This step ensures we provision adequate inventory to support the program.
Thank you for recognizing our most valued customers for their loyalty to American through this expanded benefit.

YMMV..back when I was EXP, Wife and I got complimentary drinks a couple of times, and one time the very generous FA extended snacks to my daughter too. Of course I had my EXP and CC card on hand to pay, FA just waived cost.. At the end I rewarded the FA with an AAplause Certificate.
In my past experience, some FAs were very accommodating and pro-active while others were not. Once, after getting a drink and a snack in Y, a FA asked me for a card, meaning a CC. I did simply handled her my EXP card and told her that "this should work as well". She did try to scan it, then looked at it, and returned it to me.

- thanks! I was simply unsure of the official policy. Nowadays, one can pre-order food on Y and it would come at no cost for EXP even if it show $ when pre-ordering.

Flying in Y, I did pre-order a food item, I was one of the first to board; a FA came to my seat just as I was being seated, to verify my selection--I was the only one to have pre-ordered in Y. I p/o a cheese plate which was "nicer" than the (p/o only) cheese plate I've gotten in F.

- O.K. I have finally called EXP desk. I was told that as long as my companion is on the same itinerary/record locator he/she shares the benefits of my status including free food and drinks. I have already pre-ordered food for the two legs on Dec.16. Will update the results unless we both will be upgraded.

Complimentary pre-reserved snack?
Not sure how new this is, but we can now pre-select a snack in coach, with the note that one will "pay on board." Is it a safe bet that EXP doing a pre-reserve (never hurts as they do run out) will get the meal and not be charged in the end, as EXP?
Any experiences with this?
Edit: I didn't look hard enough and do see a comment above about the Pre-order for EXP. Thanks!
Cheers.

Everytime I've pre-ordered something in coach I get upgraded, so not complaining!

EXP free snack question
As an EXP, I understand you are eligible for a free snack if not upgraded. Question is whether FAs should offer this or whether you have to ask? I've had a mix of experiences and find out a bit awkward too ask.

I'm not even sure I understand the difference. The cart comes around, you ask for what you want, and, unless there is a glitch and the system hasn't recognized you as an EXP, you are handed your snack and the cart moves on. If there is a glitch and the FA asks for payment, you then remind the FA that you are an EXP.

Snack box for a CK? That just gets you a complimentary bag with the credit card. Snacks in Y are only free for EXPs. We take all major credit cards so what'll be?

I'm in the 90 percent for upgrades this year but when not in F, he cart comes along ... I ask for a beer and a snack. The FA gives it to me and moves on. Person next to me asks I thought you have to pay for that and I explain its free for EXP.

As noted, some FAs look on their tablet to find seats with EXPs in coach to offer the meal item and beverage. Others don't check and will hopefully notice it when they enter it on the tablet and see that no payment is needed for that seat number.
Please do not hesitate to order and only if they really ask you for payment do you need to remind them of EXP status.

I've even experienced the proactive approached by the FA once. I was in the last row of Y after a series of delays and I was rolled over to an oversold flight but got a seat anyway.
When I sat down one of FA said, "we'll take care of you". I thought it was because I in last row. Turns out they knew I was EXP and gave me my drink of choice and meal upon leaving the galley. The other peeps on both sides of me were just looking on. They weren't offered anything. Talk about awkward.
