Be sure to check the lengthy http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...elections.html and oneworld and Other Airline (Partner) Awards info, rules 2014 on threads, as many members have posted questions - and useful answers - there. See the wiki posts for informative summaries.

Also be aware - AA have reduced capacity and apparently chosen to make MileSAAver flights significantly less available during predicted periods of high demand and high demand flights, undoubtedly keeping seats available for those willing to pay higher fares and use the new tiered AAnytime awards.

It started last evening, that I noticed. Like wildfire on certain routes, but mostly close in - late May and April.

I'd be happier about it if it didn't feel so much like a fire sale is all. 😐

Well, the things you learn on FT! Cool groovy swell. Got two itineraries on hold while we confirm with the kids that this is a 100% match. Thank you!

No fire sale. Demand has collapsed.

Booked a round trip to Brownsville via NYC that would usually cost me $500+ for 18k points total

Demand must have really collapsed as I was able to snag a r/t to SJO for 20K, and another one to PTY for 20K. Yeah!
