UNDER CONSTRUCTION
NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
- 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
- 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
- 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
- Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
- Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
- Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
- Seat power
- Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy
Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

Barring something unforeseen, all the A330's should have the Envoy suites by then. So row 1 won't be any different from the other rows of Envoy except for not having a row of seats in front of it.

A330-200 seat pitch
I couldn't find a US A330-200 master thread, so here goes:
Traveling alone, flying from PHL<->TLV, and I have a choice between 21G (aisle on the right side) and 28C (left aisle in the center section). Seatguru has a comment that rows 14-22 have 1 inch less seat pitch -- but also list the pitch as 31-32". Does that mean rows 14-22 have a fairly-standard 31" and the rest 32", or that rows 14-22 are even less than 31?
When I fly 3-3-3 777s, I always go for the aisle in the middle section, as it's less likely the person in the middle will have to get by me, but for 2-4-2 it doesn't seem to be the same advantage.

First, left aisle has a forward toilet. Right aisle does not, or rather it is used for F. So there is less waiting on left aisle side.
Second, people seem to prefer windows to middle interior seats, so with a C seat you have a better chance (than with a B seat) of having a seat open next to you. As in UxCC where U is you, C and C are a couple, and x is your legroom. Also, I often pull a UCCC which is to say a family together, where the C next to you tends to climb over the other family members to the right aisle.
You can probably tell that I have flown in this particular plane too much. But it is by far the best Y ride in the US fleet, and the in-seat entertainment centers are not bad.

OK- so I'm flying US703 in a few days, and I seem to have been automatically placed in Envoy seat 1H. Is this a good seat for the 9 hour flight? I'm rather short (5' 5") so space isn't necessarily an issue for me- though I also want to know if Envoy is a good service or not (I got it with miles).
Thanks!
Thanks!

1H is fine, especially if you're traveling alone. You'll have a very private flight. The legroom is not really much different than if you were in another row. Enjoy!

Beuller?
Anyone?

On a related note, 22 A350's are currently slated for delivery from 2017-2019.

Incorrect seat map for A330-200
I'm flying tlv-phl on an a332 and got 7H. US airways seatmap lists it as a premium seat. On their map, posted in this thread earlier, 6GH are missing. In seatguru, however, there are 6GH seats (which get mixed reviews as they are bulkhead). Do you know what is going on there? I can choose also 6B. Is it better?
Thanks a lot!
