UNDER CONSTRUCTION
NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
- 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
- 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
- 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
- Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
- Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
- Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
- Seat power
- Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy
Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

Sorry, yes. It was late. I just got home. It is a 332. I don't know if it is a tag on from SFO or they just turn it around between the two. But, yeah if you can get the upgrade it is nice. But sounded pretty elite-heavy.

Are rows 24, 25, and 26 (middle row only) MCE as the seat map would indicate? I'm a bit confused where they may have gotten the extra legroom for these rows since it doesn't look like any rows, galleys, or lavatories were removed.

I just book a CLT-PHL flight that is a A330-200. The only PE seat is middle center. Would you take that seat instead of a MCE seat? Also, has anyone seen if they are blocking PE seat reservations until departure day? Thanks

A332 PE Phil-Munich row 6?
Flying from Philadelphia to Munich in March. Booked Premium Economy seats row 6 bulkhead (6A & B on outbound; 6G & H on inbound). Anyone know if these are good seats compared to other seats in PE section? I have read PE section is new in this airline. What can I expect? Thanks

What is that, a 90 min flight? I would take the middle PE seat for sure.

I'm looking at AA1796 PHL-LAX on June 9. Seatguru has a totally different seat map. AA is showing the following seats as MCE:
Rows 6-8, 2-3-2
Row 9, 2-4-2
Rows 10-16, only seats G/H
Rows 23-25
Row 26, only C/D/E/F (middle 4 in 2-4-2)
It seems like Rows 6-8 are premium economy, and obviously much more desirable. I'm gold and I can usually get MCE for free at check-in but it's clearly worth paying the extra $37 here to make sure I get one of the PE seats.
But what's confusing is rows 10-16 and 26. How can only some of the seats in a row be MCE? I get it in some cases where it's an exit row (like on the 321s, where there is no 22A and 22F, 23A and 23F are MCE but the rest of row 23 isn't).

So I just booked a trip involving PHL-DUB and DUB-CLT flights for my family this summer, and my head nearly exploded when I saw the pairs of MCE coded seats on one side of the cabin but not the other. After reading this thread, I understand that it seems to be a new config due to the handicapped lav in the back of that section. For those of you who have traveled on one of these reconfigured beasts-- can I assume that the MCE seats in the asymmetric section (rows 9-16) will be the same as those in the standard config in the second section of economy (ie. same legroom)? I usually choose the seats as far forward in the plane as possible for max meal/drink choices and easy disembarking-- is there any reason to think that the more conventionally configured MCE section in the back (rows 23-25) would be better choices than those in the front? Thanks much for any opinions/advice.

Row 9 Bulkhead
We flew 9G & 9H last night PHL-CDG. The room is similar to the 788 & 789. One big pleasant surprise is that the bulkhead panels don’t go to the floor. All row 9 seats can stow their under seat gear in front of them....under the bulkhead panel and row 8 seats. I believe the lavs between PE and J are the same as on the 789: the left side is available to PE and back while the right side sheer curtain is angled in attempt to exclude PE and Y.

Just flew one of these updated birds in Premium Economy. Seats have comfortable padding; decent width and good pitch for a standard recline seat. Obviously not as nice as a fully lie-flat Business/1st Class seat, but quite a step up from MC or MCE.
