AAdvantage eShoppping by Cartera Commerce
Using, earning miles, problems, etc. (Consolidated thread)

American Airlines is not the contact for Cartera / AAdvantage eShopping .

AAdvantage eShopping FAQs and an e-contact form can be found via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom left corner of the home page.

If you have trouble getting purchases to track, there's also a browser extension to help.

Notes about Giftcards.com:
  • A separate thread exists for discussing Giftcards.com and likely has more data points than this generic thread.
  • Purchases from giftcards.com earn miles on the first $2,000 spent in the named calendar month, meaning for example between March 1st and March 31st.
  • Giftcards.com has had various limits over the years, and it was always by calendar month.
  • Some data points show the $2,000 monthly limit is not always enforced.
  • In 2022, larger orders track more slowly, and you may need to wait a full month to see miles.
(Copied from the LP thread wiki): Once you click through the AAdvantage eShopping portal to a vendor offer and make a purchase, you will eventually get the associated miles posted to your AAdvantage account as both redeemable miles and Loyalty Points. If the merchant advertises an increase in the miles per dollar spent, you'll earn the higher amount in both redeemable miles and an equal number of Loyalty Points. The same applies if a merchant advertises a higher fixed amount per purchase, rather than a per dollar amount. Examples of this would appear on the portal as, "Extra miles. Was 1 mile/$. Now earn 3 miles/$" or "Extra miles. Was up to 3700 miles. Now up to 6200 miles." However, if the website advertises a "Limited-time bonus offer" for "bonus miles" after meeting a spending threshold, that bonus will only post as redeemable miles and not Loyalty Points. If a bonus is offered for some site-wide activity such as 1000 miles for installing an extension, or 500 miles for enrolling in the portal, or 2000 miles for meeting a spending threshold across multiple merchants, the bonus will only post as redeemable miles and not Loyalty Points.

Has anyone had recent success with Bonvoy reservations (made via AAdvantage eShopping) actually posting after the stay? Not a single one of my 5 reservations so far completed this year has posted, but they do seem to all be tracked under the Recent Store Visits tab (some with order numbers and dollar amounts, and some without).

Apple Wallet won't work with MetaBank GCs even when registered properly.

I've had 2. One almost 6 weeks post-checkout and another took about 3 weeks. I didn't have to contact customer service.

I've gotten most of them to post automatically this year, although not unusual to take a few weeks post-checkout. Some have taken over a month. The terms say it can take up to 90 days.

I've noticed that the order # and amount show up in the Recent Store Visits by the next day after making the booking.

You can load to PayPal so liquidating this way is possible with a 2.9% + 0.30c fee.
Amazon Reload is by far the simplest liquidation method. In my opinion, might as well keep loading up the balance for as long as the 3x LP deal lasts, because it's not like my money is doing anything in a bank. Or crypto. Or the S&P.

I'm not a member of the Apple Cult, but have you tried downloading the Google Pay app onto the iPhone? It's in the iOS app store. I'd give the link, but I'm not allowed to. I don't see why that wouldn't work. Failing that, eBay has refurbed Google Pixel 3a phones for $65 and various Galaxies for $70. Those are legit, good phones to have for NFC.

It's the simple... but if you're buying $2k a month in VGCs then that's a lot of monthly Amazon spend.

So I got the GC to upload on the Google Play app on my iPhone today. Not sure why it worked now but it did.

Great -- looks like GC payment on iPhone is solved, as long as an actual transaction goes through. It worked because Apple Wallet and Google Pay are different payment systems. MetaBank follows Google's terms, but not Apple's.

Yes, I had a stay ending May 2nd post last week. I booked it when they were offering two Bonvoy points per dollar. I had a February stay that took much longer to post. I contacted Cartera a few weeks after the stay, and they told me it could take up to 45-days to post. That's about when the stay hit my account. I also booked during a period when there was a bonus based on spend across all eShopping stores, and the stay boosted my bonus. I was worried I'd have to contact them to make a manual adjustment, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Not really. You can add the card to the Google Pay app, but you can't use it for contactless physical payments. It would need to be added to Apple Wallet, and that's the part that doesn't work.

I had a few calls with them about this, and they have no idea what is going on, nor do the people in the call center seem to care nor their supervisors (not shocked). Moving on...

I ended up canceling my subscription from 5/11, and resubscribed again on Saturday using a different email address. This time it tracked and is showing as "pending."

Which contradicts everything and makes no sense at all. I am still expecting to receive the points, I made the purchase on the 19th. We'll see

There’s a new 5% off code at giftcards.com for the virtual visa. Code MMDVISA5 is listed on the aadvantage eshopping site.

That's a good find but seems to be limited to $10. So you're actually better off just going with the free egift cards (documented above).
