It's a similar concept when you buy at the airport post security for international travel - you don't pay sales tax.

Any recent experiences with AA/OW status or lounge access on Vueling? I found this report from 2010 -- but that seems quite a long time ago... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13693299-post232.html

Seem to recall reading on the Iberia forum that the only way you might get in is if you're flying under the Iberia flight number. Be prepared for no legroom to speak of unless you pay extra for a seat with extra legroom. I flew them early August LIS-BCN.

Where? I flew BCN-MXP on VY (code shared IB) early August and was able to enter a lounge (I think it was Pau Casals) as OW Emerald. There seemed to be a question about it but they let me in (I had Priority Pass on me as well but didn't have to use it).

I think there's going to be some strife as much of the short haul IB operation is moved to a Vueling model; until that's all cleared up not sure we will see access or general OW benefits extended. Can't buy LHR-FLR on AA.com either, of course. Was considering the flight in December, but I think I'll stick with BA to PSA for now.

What does it say on your eticket receipt?
Since the 1st flight is a US one, US decides whether to apply its allowances or those of the MSC.
If it uses the MSC, then the allowance will be that of AA's otherwise its own
Looking at the baggage allowances of US, it doesn't seem to make much difference
US's allowance for 1st/business class for bookings prior to April 23 is 3 pieces as is AA's ; the only difference seems to be that AA allows 32Kg per bag whilst it appears that US allows 32 Kg for 1st 2 bags and 23Kg for the 3rd

It sounds as if you're planning to fly MCO-CLT-MIA-TGU, is that correct?
Dave Noble beat me to the punch, but I'll reiterate that the U.S. Department of Transportation requires that information on baggage fees also must be included on all e-ticket confirmations, and these fees must apply throughout a passengers journey. This applies to any airlines doing business in the U.S. and the agencies that ticket for them.
So while I don't know the specifics of what the charges should be, the first thing to do is to check your e-ticket confirmation to see what it says, because US Airways (your first operating carrier) is legally bound by that.

I have never got the e ticket and I called them to request the receipt and I'm still waiting

Hi that's correct that route was the only one available, I contacted AA again and they told me that there was a glitch in the system and the system was allowing me 2 bags 50 pounds each but they spoke with Us airways and that they changed the baggage policy in the reservation and now it shows 3 bags 70 pound each, is this possible? Should I call back to double check?

No reason to contact AA, as US rules will be enforced on this flight -- at least outbound.
For F/J tickets, nothing changed for the first two bags on 4/23. They are still free up to 70lb.
The only change was for the third bag, which -- while still free -- went from 70lb to 50lb.
So unless all three of your bags are over 50lb, you have nothing to worry about.

I would expect US to defer to the MSC which is AA's but what does it say on the eticket?

Honduras is in Central America which, although still in IATA area 1 , is in a different sub area. The MSC is that which provides the transportation on 1st sector between the sub areas which is AA

I think the confusion surrounding this is precisely why the DOT requires the airlines to explicitly specify baggage charges on the purchase confirmation. At the very least, you'll be guaranteed the allowance described there.

US credit card free checked baggage in a US AA mixed itinerary
The US Barclaycard rule says free checked baggage only on US metals. I am going to fly on a US ticket, with the first leg on a US metal and second leg on a AA metal, can I still have the baggage checked for free?
