My guess for shortest is ORD-MKE (67 miles) and longest is ORD-DEL (7484). I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

A few years ago, I used to fly LAX-SNA on Eagle. Now that was short.
$5 more for an extra hop to status.

MIA-FLL

this used to be the shortest route on DL for a while... it ws on a 767 too left MIA @ 9pm arriving FLL @ 915pm
Very, very packed flight for those wanting to qualify for status during the last week of the year. 21 miles!!

Is that true?!

Why would they fly that route? It would take longer to walk from check-in to the gate at MIA than the flight time!

AA actually credits the ORD to DEL flight as 7483 miles.

A bit of a cheat, but the shortest flight that one can fly and still earn AA EQM/EQP/EQS would actually be LWS-PUW @ 26 miles, flown by Horizon Air.

I did a bit of research on this, the cheapest price I could get, was $72 bucks round trip which makes the EQM pretty expensive, but on the other hand if you want to qualify by segment, then it's not too bad. 10 segments, costing $360. So Elite Plat from scratch $3600, Not too shabby if you ask me, though, you might have to hang around a pretty cold part of the world, for a day or two to fit the flights in.

Have fun.

Cheers Larry from Scotland.

believe it or not, i've flown SFO-OAK (waaay back) 11 miles, and SJC-OAK, 29 miles, but those flights weren't on AA.

AA used to fly that route. I once missed my flight and was able to drive to MIA and get rebooked back on it before it departed on to DFW.

I have done SNA-LAX and SJC-OAK on AA whne they existed.
The SJC-OAK was a stop on a red eye flight to DFW. Not sure the SJC-OAK was sold. The SFO-OAK was a UA flight.

I believe the LAX-SNA flight was for repositioning so they could have the AC out of SNA. I don't know how cost effective that was.
