What are FEBO / ELFORB? Are they applied as rules or suggestions? (consolidated)

THIS THREAD IS ARCHIVED, as FEBO is now only of historical interest, as FEBO has been superseded. Please see

New meal order system by flight direction & time zone - no FEBO (Sep '14)

The general rule of thumb for how meal orders are taken WAS:
  • FEBO: Front Even, Back Odd
    • Used on single aisle aircraft in the premium cabins
    • Used on two aisle aircraft in the premium cabins when orders are taken by two FAs simultaneously
  • ELFORB: Even Left Front, Odd Right Back
    • Used on two aisle aircraft in the premium cabins when orders are taken by just one FA

This thread is dedicated to questions about the FEBO and ELFORB rules, when they are applied, and how strict they are.
Additional information can also be found on the AA Food and Beverage FlyerGuide Wiki page.

Note that this thread is a consolidation of a couple of different threads, so some posts may be interleaved.

FEBO is listed in the glossary. See the 8th entry in the "F" section.
Safe travels!

BTW, this is only entree orders - not drink orders, not dessert. It only applies to premium cabins (not BOB in Y).

I see your specific question has been answered, but the Wiki has a glossary that includes a number of terms you might run into in this Forum, beyond the FT glossary.

Make sure it's a dog whose front is even and back is odd. Pugs are definitely out, in this case.

Cheers.

It's a shame that search failed you. Would you please consider sharing the search term(s) that you used? It might help someone else be more successful in the future to know what did and didn't work. Fwiw, I searched using FEBO with this result:

Search: Key Word(s): febo

Showing results 1 to 25 of 1582
Search took 4.544 seconds
