AA Ticketing Issue- Ideas?

Well, to be honest, when I first read the post, it struck me as a bit much given that AA was saving him from having to fly the original routing.
But since he was going to misconnect, and it was all done at the airport on day of departure, perhaps it's not as egregious as I first thought.
I could see it both ways.
