Overnight layover in MIA on way to Bahamas...will AA charge baggage fee?

We have a 12-hour overnight layover in Miami in a few days...on the way to the Bahamas. Will AA charge the baggage fees if we pick up our stuff in MIA and recheck the next morning? Or since the Bahamas is considered international, will they be waived?

Also, anyone know if we can check all the way through? Or do we have to pick up in Miami?

thanks!

Check www.aa.com; it's pretty clearly explained.

Why would we expect to find AA policy about baggage on the website?
That is highly unusual.

Actually, it's quite vague. Was hoping to get an answer from someone who's traveled on a similar itinerary.

"Your baggage will only be checked to your final destination"

"Flights within the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Canada $15 for the first checked piece for tickets purchased on or after June 15, 2008 Exceptions may apply.
$25 for the second checked piece for tickets purchased on or after May 12, 2008. Exceptions may apply.
$100 per piece for the 3rd, 4th and 5th checked bags
$200 per piece for the 6th checked bag and any additional pieces
All other itineraries Contact Reservations for fees or seasonal restrictions"

Doesn't seem vague to me.

On the list of exceptions:
"Customers originating travel in the U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Canada and traveling to an international destination beyond the U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Canada"

You have an itinerary that meets the exception. A 12 hour stop isn't going to change this.

Actually, no. Called AA and had a very helpful agent who said this falls into a grey area. Luggage will have to be picked up in MIA, but since its part of an international itinerary (despite overnight connection), no baggage fees.
