Has anyone received miles for this yet? I had two friends sign up using my promo link; it's been over six weeks and no sign of bonus for me yet. Not worried yet, but curious.

Are these referral bonus always targeted? Is there any promo going on right now? Have two friends not on AA and will be flying in the near future.

You have to wait up to 8 weeks from the end of the promotion, 8/31. I think that's around 10/25.

All I can say is the AAdvantage Audits folks do read these threads
If that is the case, then here's my message to the Audit People:

Dear Mr/Ms Aadvantage Audit,

1000 miles is way, way too little for this. It's not worth my time. I get these emails and just delete them. If you want me to (1) think of who I know that does not yet have an Aadvantage number, (2) contact that person, (3) convince them to sign up for something they have never needed before, (4) further convince them that their email box and postal mailbox won't be overwhelmed with advertising material and (5) hope they complete some kind of qualifying purchase in some defined period of time, then give me a heck of a lot more than 1000 miles for all that hassle.

I had bonus miles for this post today. ^

And as to the previous poster, I'm sorry that this is too little for you. Every little bit helps and this seems fairly generous compared to other programs. I think you may be misreading the intent of the promo slightly.

The intent of the promo is to give existing customers an incentive to refer new customers. Every business does that. No problem. Then, they require the new customers to be "real" customers, not just number holders, by purchasing a modest amount. Again, no problem. If the business is rewarding existing customers for referrals, then the referred customers have to be real, not just number-holders who never generate income for the business.

If I were to be in conversation with a friend, and that friend said "Gee, I'm thinking of getting a frequent flyer account..." I would certainly recommend Aadvantage. Similarly, I would recommend my lawyer to someone needing a lawyer or recommend my hairdresser to someone who tells me they are looking for a new hairdresser. I would do that with or without the 1000 mile incentive.

However, to proactively solicit Aadvantage memberships to my friends and relatives, I'd need a stronger incentive than 1000 miles. Just my personal opinion. Thought I'd take this opportunity to give the Aadvantage Audit people some feedback.

I just signed in and found 5K bright and shiny new miles in my account from this promo.

Thanks AA!

I'm in the same situation using the shopping/toolbar promo. Those miles didn't post until the very end of the referral promo and so I figured I'd wait a bit more. I think there's one more week to wait if you go by the T&C.
