Admirals club passes?
 

There are several postings on ebay for complimentary admission into the American Airlines Admirals Club. Are these legitimate passes or a giant scam? Has anyone purchased one and tried to use it with success at a lounge?

No way to know whether a specific pass is legit or a scam, is there? If legit, AA gives these passes (in limited numbers) to valued corporate clients. AA does not intend that they end up on e-bay, and will try to find out who is selling them and take action against them. One of the actions that the seller might take when caught (so that AA will just reduce or eliminate his AAdvantage account and not try to get him fired) would be to offer AA the names, addresses, and phone numbers of those who bought these. You could end up begging the nice people at AA to unlocking your account. They might take pity on you. Or not.

I would never buy these.

This is just FUD, and not something that is likely to happen. Alienating your customers based on some data from a scam artist?

The more likely scenario is that AA will deactivate the code on the pass, and you'll get yelled at at the club for buying the thing on eBay. Or it will work fine.

Anyway, just buy a membership or day pass. It's not that expensive, and you won't have to feel bad about cheating AA or whatever.

AA takes this stuff seriously - see this thread about a FT member caught selling corporate travel agency upgrade certificates on e-bay. As to what AA will do, that's really up to them, isn't it? I don't know that they can deactivate the code unless the travel agency kept records of which ones they gave to who, but since the seller knows the name and address he sold them to, they can check to see if the buyer has an AAdvantage account. Since they know that both seller and buyer are knowingly trying to cheat them, they can pretty much do what they want.
