My experience is that DFW upgrades either a MCO or LAS 757 to a 763 almost daily. It tends to be the 7am-ish outbound flight which gets the upgrade. This makes sense since DFW gets a lot of inbound 763s in the very early morning from South America and Hawaii that just sit for hours until they return to Hawaii at lunch time or South America at dinner time. Afternoon 763 subs seem always to go to LAS, not sure why?

I doubt I will get these lucky upgrades anymore once DFW - South America goes mostly to 777s and the 763 fleet shrinks at DFW.

Depends on what your equipment is changing to. Saturday AM my LAS/DFW flight was switched from a 757 to a 767-200. So I ended up with a J seat.

Now when I went to check in at the kiosk I saw the equipment change. So I ask the check in agent about getting into the J cabin (my seat had been changed to an exit row in Y.) She seemed clueless to the fact that it was a 3 class a/c. However, the agent at the gate was more than happy to move me up.
