Question about redeeming Citi Reduced Mileage awards

I called AA reservations to inquire about claiming an award for DFW to Key West since Key West is listed as a destination for this Q. The agent informed me that it was an invalid pair since DFW wasn't on the list as well. She said that I had to pick two destinations from the list and only those would work as a pair. Is this how it works? I figured if they were simply listed as destinations then I could go there from any AA city in their network.

Welcome to FT!

I'd call again. Never have had this problem before.

I think I will. I seemed odd to me that they would say this. I thought about asking for another agent but wanted to check here to see if anyone else had this problem when booking reduced mileage awards. So to be clear.....I can book to DFW to any city on the destination list even though DFW isn't on the list too?

She was looking at the "Point to Point" awards instead of the "Destinations" awards where EYW is listed for Q3. As mentioned, call again.

The OP had posted once in 2 1/2 years. In addition to being helpful, the reply was ironic, and funny.
