EXP - PLT Withdrawal Symptoms

After 3 years of EXP, last year I came up 30k short of requalifying. As it has been a long time since I was plain old PLT, I have been struggling with the transition my symptoms include:

Dismay over lack of electronic upgrades in my bank
Shock at being told there would be a charge for a seat request on OW partner
Saddness when I get the PLT desk instead of the EXP desk
Frustration watching my name get pushed down on the upgrade list at the airport by EXPs
Longing for access to the Flagship Lounge vs. Admirals club

This is all further complicated by my Plat for life status which has reduced my desire to focus on AA as the mile challenge seems to be either EXP or nothing. True enough I could try for the PLT bonus thing but a few extra electronic upgrades seems trivial.

Any other folks going through this? Other symptoms I should watch out for?

Disgust when having to pay $300.00 + 25K miles for a one way TATL upgrade rather than simply using an eVIP

Embarrassment when FTers point out that your moniker should actually be "ex-execplatscum"

Seeing Sapphire printed on my BP is enough to make me teary eyed.
Having CX agents print me an invite to the Business lounge.
Not being able to push '1' when calling the UK Aadvantage number.
Thank goodness I have a BAEC Gold card to tide me over until EXP is mine again.

Extreme sadness when you realize that PLT desk isn't really dedicated AAgents at all, but rather priority handling of call with regular AAgents.

Well... I've longed to be EXP for a few years now, but have never been. I'm sure I'd go through all those emotions, too, if I experienced the benefits of EXP only to have them go away.

Look on the positive side:

1. You still get 100% bonus miles for all AA flights
2. You still get premium check-in and lounge access on all OW flights
3. You still get complimentary upgrades on full-fare economy
4. You can get upgrades on cheap Y flights with stickers

Besides, if one is PLT, one is clearly not flying enough to notice the difference

Cheers.

Which partner was this? Who was charging--AA or the partner?

Oh get real. We don't patronize you- we don't even notice you. "Oh, what's that on the bottom of my shoe- another PLT?"

Cheers.

AA - I was booked by my travel agent on IB (Codeshare from Madrid nice flight by the way)..saw there was no seat assignment for the IB portion on AA.com so called to request a seat and was told if I wanted AA to do it they would charge me something like a 7.00 fee otherwise I could either have my agent make the request or call IB myself. Never heard of this before but guess I should get used to it.

I feel your pain. I'm contemplating a new, higher-positioned job with a new company that will pretty much take away my chances of requalifying for EXP this year. My wife says I'm nuts for even considering the possibility of losing frequent-flier status as part of my decision process, but she has no idea

Now nearly all of your flights will help to add points to your upgrade bank.

You don't have TIME to notice, what with making 10 posts per day on an Internet blog site.....
