No. If you are on standby, Y is full and all you have is a Y ticket, the plane will go out with empty seats in J/F. One exception is when there is a cancellation or other type of irrop.

These are probably non-rev standbys, not Y ticketed standby pax.

At any rate, I don't know why people are getting their undies in such a wad over a simple question about an upgrade.
maybe b/c the OP started off by saying that they would make the cabin in F look better by being young and cute and he was trying to finagle an upgrade

I'm not sure...it seems that i've seen y's hanging around the podium and later they are in fc. Perhaps some of them are from irregularities on earlier flights.

Perhaps they are waitlisted for upgrades.

Perhaps they are Non-revs.

Perhaps they are really cute.

Perhaps they are married to one of the pilots.

In fact, the obvious humility might get you downgraded.

no status,, award ticket but somehow being young and cute equals deserving First.

I can think of lots more deserving people.. like those with 100000 miles bis despite not being young and cute...

OP seems to feel a sense of entitlement that is undeserved.. best advise is to get more miles and get an F award or heaven forbid .. pay for it
I was thinking the same exact thing. If she 'deserves to be in F', than, by all means purchase her a ticket in F!

A better option would be if the thread was Catholic and it just decided to divorce. That way, it either couldn't re-marry or we could excommunicate it.

Were you trying to rub shoulders with a GA to get in to F because you are so cute?
