However, it is a huge YMMV situation. Sometimes, I have had the Flight Connect gate keepers who check your boarding pass direct me into the Fast Track line. Sometimes I have simply moved into it on my own where it would clearly be quicker than the regular line.
The two escalator merge at the top, where there are gate keepers directing PAX into each security area. Sometimes I have been directed into a Fast Track area, sometimes I have been denied entrance to a Fast Track area.
On this last trip, none of the Fast Track security areas were being used, leading to some loud grumbling by some PAX. To compound the problem, I did a poor job profiling the group ahead of me and entered a security line with a large slow obstacle. Thankfully, the champagne and breakfast at the lounge were nice as always.

If you mean the Fast Track line that one can access via Flight Connections, this was assuredly not the case in mid February- last time I was there. That was only by cabin. If you're talking about the general landside->airside security like, I don't know as I haven't used that. I have used that line at T3, and I'm pretty sure that OW levels are not included.
Cheers.

No, still need to go through the gate line. It skips having the questions asked when you are trying to enter the gate area.

A recent experience, came into T3 with AA going to T5 BA. I was down to 1hr10 minute connection, as the inbound was delayed.
At the exit of the aircraft I was handed an orange "oneworld express connection" paper sleeve and told to keep it visible at all times, along with instructions on where to go by the AA agent.
Once at Terminal 5 another BA agent with the flight number/destination, was waiting for me and escorted me through security (a distinctive line for this).
I'm not sure if this is for all oneworld connections or only AA/BA/IB ones. The overall process was efficient, although falls short of what AF do when you are on a 45 minute connection at CDG (bring a car to your inbound aircraft, drive you immigration and subsequently escort you right through to the gate). I'm not sure why oneworld do not do this, maybe BAA is opposed to the idea?

At the Flight Connections bus, the card had no effect.
At T5, I held the card up but nothing happened. I went to the FasTrak line, then security, and no one cared that I had the orange card. I got to the gate just after boarding started, but didn't see the point of the card.

AA - BA DFW/LHR/IST trip
Would someone mind helping a domestic flying fanatic out? This may need to be moved to the BA forum, not sure.
Flying at the end of June from DFW-LHR on AA.. have a long layover at LHR and then catch a BA flight from LHR to IST to meet up with family and every time I have ever been international it was a non-stop from ATL so this is all very new to me. The questions I have are..
When I get to LHR, do I have to claim baggage / customs / etc. and then recheck on BA for the leg to IST?
As an EXP.. I thought I could get my seat assignments on BA? However iten still shows unassigned.
Any suggestions would be appreciated..
Thanks

To get your seat assignments, you will need to go to BA.com and enter your AA record locator and last name at the Manage my Booking(MMB) page, link here. In the past I have had problems using the AA locator, but calling BA and asking for your booking reference will accomplish the same thing.

The AA flight arrives at T3 and the BA flight leaves from T5. If you decide not to enter the U.K. then you can do an airside transfer using the free bus between the terminals. When you reach T5 you still have to go through security, which can be a bit of a zoo there at times
If you decide to enter the UK, then you can get the express train to Paddington station in central London, or the slower but cheaper tube train

and you are probably aware that the BA Lounge in T5 is very nice. We spent a five hour layover in the lounge easily ... hot food etc was available.

Depending on the length of your layover, it is not far to Windsor, which is also pretty cool.
If you remain airside, follow the Flight Connections signage (I think they're purple...I nerver pay attention) to transfer to T5. You will not have to re-check your baggage - just make sure it's tagged to IST. I transferring terminals, you'll have to reclear security again...something to keep in mind if you buy any liquids after security in DFW.
Have a good trip!

The offering at the T5 Galleries is Highland Spring, sparkling or still. Both stocked in 1.5l glass bottles. Bottled water (Evian, Buxtons et al) in more portable sizes is available for purchase at the many retail concessions at T5.
